Danica POV
I groan as my alarm goes off. I'm on Peds today. I don't mind being on Peds but it's not my favourite service. I get up and slowly throw on a hoodie and sweatpants before grabbing my keys, phone, and pager. I slip on my jordans before running out of the house. I hop on my motorcycle and head off.
I pull into the parking lot and turn off my bike once I park. "Nice ride," I turn and see Charles and Jackson.
"Thanks," I slip off my helmet and my curly but slightly knotted hair falls onto my shoulders. I tuck my helmet under my arm before walking into the building.
"God, she is such a babe," I hear Charles whisper, not so quietly. I roll my eyes as I continue watching, Charles continues to talk about me. "Do you know if she's single?"
"No idea," Jackson lies.
"Hey Dani," I walk slower with a sigh.
"Yeah Nosedive?" I ask, hoping I don't sound too mean.
"You single?"
"Yup," I say popping the p.
"I--"
"In your dreams," I answer before he gets the chance to ask me out. I hear Jackson chuckle lightly and I can't help the small smile that tugs at my lips. I quickly catch myself. My hand flies up to my neck to grasp George and I's wedding rings but they aren't there. I stop in my tracks as my heart begins to beat faster. I immediately check my pockets before getting down on my knees and searching through my bag frantically.
"Dani, you dropped this," I look up and see Charles holding my necklace. I quickly stand up and grab it before walking off, clasping it over my neck. I hold onto the rings so hard my knuckles lighten.
"Were those wedding rings?" I hear Charles asks, attempting to be quiet once again. "I didn't know she's married,"
"Was," Jackson says sounding sad and sympathetic.
"Was? Oh," Charles says realizing. I walk into the locker room and quickly change into my scrubs, tying my hair into a ponytail. The sound of whispering catches my attention as I see Charles whispering to Reed. I can only assume what they're talking about. I grab my stethoscope and head out the door towards Peds. Jackson and Charles follow along as it is the three of us plus Cristina on peds.
I watch as Arizona sighs contently after taking the last sip of her coffee and then throwing out the cup. "Okay, I know this is the first time on a Peds rotation with me for some of you. Not for others," She says looking at Cristina. I let out a chuckle only to receive an elbow from Cristina. "But I wanted you to understand that I run my Peds unit a little differently than you may be used to. This is not general surgery in miniature. These are the tiny humans. These are children. They believe in magic. They play pretend. There is fairy dust in their I.V. bags. They hope and they cross their fingers and they make wishes. And that makes them more resilient than adults. They recover faster. Survive worse. They believe. In Peds, we have miracles and magic. In Peds, anything is possible," Cristina hands her a clipboard before we follow her through the Peds doors.
Cristina turns around quickly and makes a vomiting gesture before continuing to walk. I love Arizona and how preppy she is. The others don't get it but then again, the others don't have kids. We walk into the next room and I see a young boy in a lab coat with glasses and a clipboard. I can't help but smile at how cute he looks.
"Morning Doctor Robbins,"
"Good morning Doctor Wallace," Arizona smiles down at the boy. "I see that you've already introduced yourself to Mr and Mrs Boyd,"
