Danica Rose Millers has gone through hell on earth. She starts her internship at Seattle Grace Hospital and meets people who will change her life forever. She loves and loses and loves some more. Find out more on I've Loved and I've Lost.
Another day, another surgery. I smile to myself as I rip the gloves off my hands after successfully closing up a patient. I look up to see Bailey smile at me proudly from under her mask. "Great work again, Doctor Millers,"
"Thank you, Doctor Bailey," We walk out of the OR as the transport team takes our patient back to their room. I run my hands under the warm water before adding soup and lathering up well. "Thank you again for letting me lead in there, it means a lot,"
"Take it as a gift," She says with a small smile and I shrug. "You, Danica, are one of the strongest people I know. You've done so much recently despite the odds. I am truly and utterly proud of you," My eyes well at her words as I try to blink away the tears.
"Bailey stop, it's too early to be making me cry," I grab a rag and dry my hands before throwing my arms around her. "Thanks mom," I whisper just quietly enough that she hears before running out of the room, skipping down the hall as I prepare for a good day.

Danica POV
"So, they're probably gonna fire me," My head lifts up at Meredith's words, my granola bar hanging out of my mouth as I jot down notes on my case files. "Are you happy?"
"Oh, come on, they're not gonna--," Before Alex can get his words out Meredith cuts him off.
"I want your crap out of my house by the end of the day," She then storms off.
"What did you do?" I question, my mouth full of my sugary snack.
"What the hell was that?" Cristina questions, curious to know what Alex could've done to make Meredith kick him out. Before he can answer, a beeping noise fills the surrounding space as everyone's pagers begin to erratically sound off. We all quickly put our case fills away before heading to the main lobby. I chuck the rest of my granola bar in the garbage with a sad huff before turning my full attention to Chief Webber.
"A 757 went down in the sound. We're looking at about 200 injured passengers. We're the designated crisis centre. Families will be instructed to come here to find their loved ones," Doctor Webber explains. Everyone glances at each other nervously as I wring my hands anxiously. And here I thought it was gonna be a good day. "We're activating surge protocol. Doctor Hunt is gonna be running the show. It's gonna be chaotic. You need to listen carefully. You need to stay focused. Do not contribute to the panic. Now get to our stations,"
With that everybody scrambles in all different directions. A large group of us, mostly residents and interns, follow Doctor Hunt and Bailey, waiting for further instruction. "Doctor Bailey, let's clear any beds that we can. Discharge or transfer," Hunt instructions quickly, sounding slightly panicked.
"Okay, uh, Grey," Bailey takes the blonde with her as the rest of us stay behind.
"Alright, Torres, you'll be with me. Kepner, set up the E.R. for triage. Other Grey, I want you running the family centre," He hands the two last girls slips of papers with what I assume are brief instructions. "Take over in the cafeteria. Yang, blood bank,"
