Danica's POV

"Took you guys long enough," I chuckle. I was on-call when a huge train wreck happened. In front of me are two patients who are connected by a metal rod, impaled inside both of them.

"Is this the craziest thing you've ever seen?" Bonnie, the female patient asks.

"Bonnie, hermosa, I grew up with six brothers. It takes a lot to surprise but yes, this is the craziest thing I've ever seen," I answer honestly.

"Excuse me?" She calls out to Doctor Burke.

"Hi I'm Doctor Burke. You shouldn't move your head. You wanna try to move as little as possible,"

"Oh, okay. So are you gonna pull this pole out of us anytime soon?" Bonnie asks.

"It's a touch uncomfortable," Tom jokes.

"I'm sorry," Burke apologizes. "We can't do that until we get a better look at what's going on internally. But I assure you we will work as quickly as possible,"

"Well in that case, does anybody have a breath mint?" Bonnie asks. Tom looks down at her with a playful furrow of his eyebrows. "For me, not for you,"

"O'Malley, Millers, get them to x-ray," Bailey instructs. We slowly and carefully push the gurney down the hall.

"Well is there anyone you'd like me to call?" George asks.

"No, they called my wife in the ambulance," Tom explains.

"And my fiance, they're flying down from vancouver together," Bonnie adds.

"Normally Amanda would be a tad upset to find me pressed up against another woman, but in this case I think I'll get a pass," Tom jokes.

"You two weren't travelling together?" I ask, thinking the two already were friends.

"No, we just met," Bonnie answers.

"Bit of an awkward introduction,"

"You have very nice pores," Bonnie compliments, making me smile. Tom chuckles.

"Oh it hurts to laugh," Everyone waiting outside x-ray all let us go first due to the severity of Bonnie and Tom's situation. We take the x-rays and look at the results with Burke, Bailey and Meredith, who's currently connected to a banana bag.

Derek walks in and immediately looks at Meredith. "What happened?"

"Tequila," She answers plainly.

"I'm keeping an eye on her," Bailey adds.

Derek then focuses on the x-ray sheets. "Look at this. These people are still alive?"

"They're still making small talk,"

"The poles tamponading the wound as far as we can see," Bailey comments.

"It's hitting the aorta," Derek points.

"Look at him. It's right in line with his inferior vena cava," Burke points out.

"Is there anyway to operate without separating them?" George asks.

"No," Derek answers.

"If we move the pole then they'll both bleed out right?" I ask. Bailey nods. "What if we don't move the pole?" I suggest. "What if we move one of them off the pole to get the saw in there and then we work on each of them?"

"It could work but whoever we move is more likely to die," Burke explains.

"Then nevermind,"

"No, no, it's a good idea," Burke reasons.
