Monday morning, 8:30 a.m. and Javier is dragging himself out of bed. His head was pounding from last night's drinking. Ms. Laurens was gone. A good thing too, Javier didn't think he could stand her simpering curiousness over how he felt about her. He knew she was searching for romantic feelings and Javi just wanted someone to stick his dick into to forget about his feelings. He moved towards the shower, class would be starting in a few minutes, but he could afford to miss that. He could afford to miss seeing her.

At school, first period class was full. The first bell and the tardy bell had already rung and we all sat quietly in our seats. Jade came walking in as we were all sitting there and everyone gave a collective groan. "Don't act so happy to see me, assholes." She said. "We're waiting for Mr. Pena. He's late." Jade just rolled her eyes. "He probably spent all night drinking, the fucking sot." She muttered, walking over and taking her seat beside me. "Still angry with him, huh?" I asked. She just cut her eyes at me. "You have no idea." She said. "Not to mention the fact that he's screwing Ms. Laurens." Jade said. "He's sleeping with her? I didn't know that." I said. "Yeah, he is. I was kind of keeping it secret for myself." Jade said.

"Anyway, how was your date?" Jade asked. "Terrible. Mason was a regular Chatty Cathy. He took me to a sushi restaurant. We didn't have dessert...and he threw up when the date was over." "Goddamn...it sounds like your night was worse than mine." Jade said. "Yeah, I'm secretly hoping there's not a second date. I don't think I could do that again." "Well...Mason might change his tune. He's stupid. Stupid boys have to be told what they want." She said. "Ugh, that's depressing and feels like a lot of pressure." "Yeah, but what can you do?" She said, shrugging.

Javier's shoes smacked against the asphalt of the back parking lot as he rushed to the classroom. "Good morning, Mr. Pena." Several students greeted him as he walked. He hurried to the classroom to find all the students sitting there. His eyes immediately landed on her. "Where the hell have you been, sir?" One of the students asked. "Watch your mouth. I had a late night." He said. "Grading papers?" Someone questioned. "Yes, grading papers. So I need for all of you to be quiet and work on the assignments that I gave last class." He said, sitting down at his desk. Jade just looked over at me and shook her head.

As the bell rang, we gathered up our things and headed for the door. Javier stopped Jade. "Can I have a word with you in private, Ms. Tondre?" He asked. She looked at me and then sighed. "Yeah, sure." She said. "I'll see you at lunch time." She said, sticking back. He shut the door. "What?" She said. "How have you been?" He asked. She scoffed, crossing her arms. "How have I been? I've been great. Way better than when we were together. I think breaking up was the best thing we ever did." Javier sighed. "What about you?" She asked. He shoved his hands in his front pockets. "Great. Really good." He said. "I heard you've been seeing Ms. Laurens." "I'd hardly call it that. Besides I'm sure you've found someone else." He said. "Maybe I have and maybe I haven't, I hardly see how that's your business." She bit back. Uncrossing her arms, she stood there. "Are we finished here?" She asked. "No, as a matter of fact, you're failing this quarter. I expect to see you in tutoring every day this week starting tomorrow." He said. He offered her a scheduling paper. She plucked it from his fingers. "Fine. I'll see you on Tuesday then." She said, turning around and walking out the door. "Stay out of my way, nerd." She snapped, shoving one of the students down on the ground. She stepped around him and walked down the hallway. Javier watched her walk off before allowing the other students in the classroom.

Once in music class, I sat beside Shayne like usual. "Hey." He said. Our attitudes towards each other were a little relaxed right now. "Hey, what's up?" I said. "Not much, how did your date go?" He asked. "It was...terrible." I said, laughing softly. "That bad, eh?" "He threw up afterwards!" I said. Shayne started laughing. "I'm really sorry that happened." He said. "It's okay. I'm really hoping if there's a second date, we just have a burger or something." I said. "That sounds like a plan." Shayne said. "Anyway, are you ready to present?" I asked. "Yeah, I think so. I've really been practicing and I'm hoping it all works out." Shayne said. "Alright, class. I know we had a rough start last week with some of our performances, but we've reached the bottom of the list." He said, picking up the paper from his desk. I had already given my performance after Matt's.
