"Just get out, Javi!" Jade screamed. She was standing at the top of the banister, shouting at him. "I'm going and deservedly so! I was stupid for thinking that you'd ever be mature about anything!" He screamed from the last stair. There was about 4 feet in between the last stair and the door. Jade came down the stairs, nearly falling as she shoved him towards the door. "Just go!" She shouted. "Don't fucking call me!" He snapped, leaving her alone. He slammed the front door behind himself. Jade let out a defeated and shattering sigh. She fell against the door. "Goddamnit." She said. Her sight was going blurred from the tears that were building in her eyes. Javier was sitting in his car. He thought about getting out and going back up there, apologizing and making up...but instead...he put the car in gear and drove off.

It was the last week in October. About a week ago, Javier had to go to a teaching conference that was in upstate California. He promised Jade that he would talk to her while he was there for the two days. Unfortunately, Javier didn't call her until the last day that he was due back. Jade was a little upset and the two of them got into a fight. From there, the fighting just seemed to escalate. They just kept fighting with each other. Today, Sunday, was the breaking point. Thinking steamy sex would cure their issues, instead they exploded on each other after some rather hateful sex.

Javier had said some hurtful things and Jade bit back with equally rough banalities. The fight peaked and Jade finally told him it was over. It wasn't that she didn't love him...she was just sick of how he was acting. Even their sexual life had taken a hit. She couldn't figure out if it was because of the admission of their feelings about one another, or if it was just because the honeymoon phase of their "relationship". It was over. As far as Jade was concerned, she didn't need Javier in her life anyways. She needed to focus on her schoolwork. Fall benchmarks were coming and she needed to focus on studying to pass the marks. Besides, there were plenty of people who she could sleep with. It was the 26th of October. In 5 days, Halloween would be here. Jade had hoped that she and Javier would be together so they could play counterparts, but as it looked...that was not going to happen.

I knocked lightly on Jade's front door. She answered it. "You called me?" I asked. "Yeah, just wanted someone to talk to." I took my sweater off, hanging it on the hook by the door. "You sounded a little distressed on the phone." I said, moving into the living room to sit down beside her. "Javier and I decided to end our relationship." I could feel my own heart breaking at that news. "Jade...I'm really sorry." "It's fine." I had known for a while that they had been having problems. Jade stayed quiet about it, but I knew something was bothering her. I didn't push the issue because I didn't want to make her uncomfortable. "Do you wanna talk about what happened?" I asked. I hadn't ever seen her in such...despair is the only word that comes to mind.

Hanging her head, eyes focused downward...she offered a sad shake. "It was just stupid." She said, raising her head. She was looked towards the television, that was switched off. The gleam of her eyes were glossed with tears as they rolled down the fat of her cheeks, dipping into her smile wrinkles. I reached over placing my hand on her knee. "I feel so guilty. So dumb. All I had to do was listen and this whole thing was just my fault!" She said. Her hands moved up, covering her face as she started to sob. "Hey...I'm sure it wasn't 100% your fault. A relationship is a 2 way street, you know that." I said. "I-I know but it—it feels like it could've been prevented." I scooted closer, wrapping my arm around her. She leaned over, placing her head against my chest as I wrapped my arm around her to pull her closer. "You'll be alright. Besides, who needs an older man? You can play around with guys your own age and we both know they're way more stupid and gullible." Jade raised her head. Her tear splotched cheeks reddening as her wet eyes moved over me. She offered a little chuckle. "You're learning pretty well, Gill." "Well, I've had my own experiences with Shayne this school year. He's driving me nuts and we haven't even had sex yet!" I said.
