Caylie crept downstairs as quietly as she could. Her father was passed out in his room, but he could wake up at anytime with no recollection of what had happened last night. Caylie had been stern in reminding him that she was not going to be there on Saturday as she was going out with some friends for horseback riding. While this was only half true, her father had warned her if there were boys, she'd pay for it. Rather than waiting inside, Caylie grabbed her sweater and waited outside on the front porch step. She constantly checked her phone, waiting for a message from Damien that said he was on his way. While she waited, she sent Gill a text.
C: Kinda excited for my date with Dames! 😍
Caylie had confided in Gill that she was going on a date with Damien. Jade had been a little reclusive and didn't seem to notice (or care) about how comfy Caylie and Damien were getting. Caylie still played it low key, but Damien struggled to contain his excitement.
I was laying in bed. I heard my phone go off as I awoke from sleep. I grumbled, sitting up. It looked like it was going to rain, the perfect weather to lay in bed and just watch Netflix all day. I grabbed my phone, snuggling back under the warmth of the covers to respond to a text. It was Caylie. She had told me that Damien had asked her on a date, but nothing was for sure until she got her dad's permission. That was on Tuesday. Luckily Jade had shown back up to school in better spirits. She told us that she had spoken to her parents and the outcome was not good or bad, but some horrid form of neutral. I squinted as the bright light stung my eyes. I wasn't wearing my glasses, the screen was a little blurred, but I could still make out the words on screen. I chuckled to myself, typing out a response.
M: Extra happy for you, babe. ❤️
Right as Caylie received Gill's message, Damien pulled up. Caylie grabbed her purse and went running down to the curb, hopping into the car as they sped away down the street. It was about 6:15 in the morning. While it was a 2 hour drive to the ranch, Damien and Caylie stopped for breakfast. Susanna's Breakfast Parlor was just on the outskirts of leaving the main stretch of LA. "This is really nice." Caylie said as they were sitting in the quiet restaurant. Damien's three pronged fork split open the over easy eggs. Out from the fluffy whiteness on the sides, gushed the thick yellow yolk. Caylie leaned against the table with her hands folded under her chin. She sighed dreamily as she watched him glide the lightly browned toast through the buttery substance. "You're staring." Damien mumbled, taking a bite of the bread. She grinned softly. "I can't help it." She said.
"Y'know..." Damien started, taking a drink of the coffee that was sitting in front of him. He swallowed down the liquid and the chewed food."...I'm kind of surprised that you agreed to go on this date with me." Caylie quirked a brow. "Why is that?" She asked. "Well, you seem to be weary about Jade knowing." He said, wiping his mouth. "It's something that's concerning. I don't want to be stepping on her toes. Besides, you two have quite the history together." Caylie said, folding her arms but keeping them rested on the table. Damien's eyes fluttered around, his body language was tensing up as he was getting flustered. Caylie's gaze was burning right through him as she wasn't going to let the subject go. Damien sighed, feeling the twinge of defeat. "Alright, you've twisted my arm." He said, giving her his best somber looking eyes. "I guess I have been a little heartless about that situation. I didn't really think it was worth mentioning anymore." He offered. "You really hurt her, Damien. It was wrong what you did." Caylie said, giving a disapproving frown. He sighed once more. "I know...and I never even told her that I was sorry." He said. "I don't think it would really matter if you said sorry then or sorry now. It wouldn't take away the pain that she felt towards the situation." Caylie said.
"Why are we even talking about this?" Damien asked. He was growing just a little frustrated. "You brought it up." Caylie sneered. "I didn't expect you to grill on it." He growled. "I'm not! I'm telling you what—" "The obvious!" Damien slammed his hands on the table. Caylie stood up from where she was sitting. "Don't you ever raise your voice at me, Damien Haas!" She said, pointing at him. She was leaning over the table, her eyes flickering over his face. Damien could feel himself beginning to choke on his heart as a familiar heat spread through his lower regions. "Stop looking at me like that." She snapped. "I can't help it...you're really turning me on." Damien purred. "All I want is for us to get along. I want Jade to be happy, but you and her have to have some kind of Come To Jesus meeting to get past all this bullshit." Caylie said. Damien's eyes fell down to the empty white plate that was smeared with the yellow liquid of the eggs. "Just promise me that you'll talk to her." Caylie said, sinking back down into her seat. "I promise." Damien said.
