The locker slammed shut as Damien leaned against it. Jade and Caylie were standing behind him. "I think we need to have a little talk while Shayne's not around." Damien said. I pulled my Geometry book from my locker. "What does that even mean, Dames?" I asked. "Well, his birthday is coming up and I think we need to do something special for it." Damien said, grinning. "Since when did you become a party planner?" Jade asked, raising her brow. Damien looked over at her. "I'm not. Which is why I'm inquiring about it with you three lovely ladies." I just scoffed. "Somehow I don't feel like that's genuine." Jade said. "I think it would be magical." Caylie said. "Magical is really the word you're going with Cay?" Jade asked. "Sure, why not? Besides, it would be the perfect opportunity to get a certain somebody better acquainted with our little blond." Caylie said, shooting a glance my direction. I just rolled my eyes. "When are you going to let that go? We're just friends." "Friends who like each other but don't want to admit it." Damien teased. "Oh for the love of—leave her be. If Shayne is any kind of man, he'll figure it out." Jade said. "Thank you." I said.
Just then, Shayne walked up. "What are you guys talking about?" He asked. "Party planning." I said. His brows shot up. "Party planning? Who's having a party?" We all exchanged glances before Jade intervened. "Javi is having a birthday. I wanted to ask Gill for some advice on how to throw one for him." "I thought you hated parties." "I do, when they're centered around me." Jade said, folding her arms. Suddenly, the bell ringing shattered the air. "Walk me to class?" I asked Shayne. "Certainly." He said, bending his arm. I looped my own through his. "See you guys at lunch." He said. We took off walking. "Is there a certain reason for your semi-romantic antics?" I asked, quietly. "It'll give them something to talk about." He said. I just stifled a giggle.
"That was pretty smart of you to say it was for Javi." Caylie said. "Well, what can I say? I'm smart sometimes. I think its more important that we get them together before the year ends. But until then, I'll see you two later." Jade said, turning around and walking off. As soon as she disappeared around the corner, Damien spun Caylie around and pulled her towards him. "What are you doing?" She said, giggling quietly. "Sneaking around." He leaned down, attempting to kiss her. "Damien.." She said, dishearteningly. "What? We're alone. I can't kiss you when we're by ourselves?" He asked. She frowned softly. "I thought we agreed that we wouldn't do that here." "I can't help it." He said. "I don't think we should care about what she thinks. It's not her decision to make." "Damien, Jade is still my friend. I don't really care about what happened between the two of you, but I know how to be respectful of what she wants." "Oh and sneaking around is being respectful?" Damien snapped. "This wasn't my idea. I would've gladly waited until we graduated to date you. I'm not on a time clock." "What is that supposed to mean?" Damien asked. Caylie narrowed her eyes at him. "Figure it out." She said, turning around and walking down the hallway.
Over the past couple of weeks, Damien and Caylie had been sneaking around with each other. It started after the talent show (which Caylie won, without a doubt). Damien drove Caylie home and they ended up kissing each other as they were sitting in Damien's car. Things kind of exploded from there. But a problem was still posed and that was Jade. Despite Damien assuring Caylie that Jade was heavily consumed with making Javi happy, Caylie still wanted to be respectful. It was hard keeping their emotions for each other lowkey, but Caylie prided herself on what a good job she was doing. Damien was not...it wasn't really a big deal, but Caylie was struggling to get him to understand that if Jade found out, they'd both be in the shit.
"Shayne?" I asked. He looked over at me as we were seated adjacent to each other in music class. "What?" He asked. "When is your birthday?" I asked. "It's September 14th. Why? Gonna buy me a gift?" He asked, wiggling his brows. "Maybe if you wouldn't be so cocky about it I would." I teased. "I'm not being cocky. It's sweet if you wanna get me something." I smiled. "I'll consider it." I said, going back to reading the music notes that we had been given.
