Michelle had not had a good nights sleep after she came home from the masquerade ball. The night had started out so well and she was having fun with her coworkers and especially enjoyed spending the evening of dinner and dancing with Shawn...that is until everything took a weird turn and ended up with both of them getting pissed off and testy with each other.
When she left Shawn standing at the elevator as the doors closed, she descended to the lobby and walked out to the front of the hotel to find a couple of taxis already parked at the curb. She approached the first one and opened the door, giving the driver her destination which wasn't that far. She could have easily walked it if it wasn't the middle of the night and she wasn't in heels and an evening gown, but that certainly wasn't happening, so she got in the back while he made the short drive over to Union Street. The driver made the 2 minute trip to deliver her to the entrance of her building and she paid him the minimum fare plus a small tip and thanked him as she exited the car.
She heard her phone buzz indicating she had an incoming text and she opened it half expecting it to be from Shawn, but instead it was a group text from one of her classmates whom she'd been working on a group project with for one of her design classes. It seemed odd to be getting a text about collaborative classwork on a Saturday at 11:55 at night, but such was the life of an architecture and design student. She put her phone in her jacket pocket and waited for the elevator to take her up to her floor and when she got to the 3rd floor and opened the door to her apartment, she could smell the enticing mixture of Shawn's shaving cream and cologne which made her miss him, even if she was still pissed off at him.

After Michelle had left him standing in front of the elevator like some loser, Shawn had told Marcus he was leaving after thanking Jonah for the invitation and bidding him and the other Symposium employees a good evening. When he exited the hotel he started walking back to his apartment, hoping that Marcus and Meredith would be spending the night at her place instead of the loft, because he would prefer to be alone if given a choice. He was feeling the effects of the alcohol he'd consumed, especially the last double tequila shots he'd thrown back and now he was in a foul mood. He was also more than a little upset by the last few events of the night that had turned a lovely romantic evening with Michelle into a completely fucked up situation, mostly due to the appearance of two arrogant people who seemed to enjoy being a pain in the ass for their own amusement. He didn't know who or what upset him the most; Aaron Conner and Delaney Moncrief, or how he and Michelle had allowed those two to come between them and ruin a perfectly good evening which they'd been looking forward to. He thought about calling or texting her as he walked down Washington Street, but he quickly changed his mind, thinking it would be best to just leave her alone for the time being and maybe they could talk in the morning and clear the air.
When he unlocked the door to the loft, he didn't even bother turning on any lights, but soon got undressed and hung up his tux, went to the bathroom and in less than 10 minutes he was out like a light after collapsing in bed.
