Chapter 83

By noon on Friday, Shawn was packed and ready to leave for Boston. Michelle made her way to Logan so she could drop him off, then was going to head to Gran's to help bake and get the house prepared for the arrival of the rest of the Devereaux clan in a few days. As they slowly made their way through the heavy traffic, they finally reached Northern Avenue, made a right onto D Street and took the second left through the tunnel, before making another right to the  exit following the signs to the airport. She parked the car and went inside with him to say goodbye before he went through security, wanting to spend the last few minutes with him before he had to leave.

"Well I guess this is it babe," he said pulling her into a hug.

"Yeah. Have great time at home with your family and tell them Merry Christmas for me."

"I will and you enjoy your Christmas at your Gran's. It'll be great to have all your family under one roof again, just like when they all came for your graduation."

"Sure, I know. I'm really gonna miss you while you're gone though," Michelle said, giving him a small smile as she looked up into his warm caramel brown eyes.

"I'll miss you too honey, but we'll FaceTime every day. I promise."

"Ok, I'll be looking forward to that."

"Chelle it's not like I'm going away for a really long time. I'll be back before you know it."

"I know. I just wish we didn't have to be apart for the holidays. I mean we had our own little early Christmas which I loved, but I just wish we could actually spend Christmas and New Year's together. But it's ok, I know you miss your family and they've missed you, so you should be with them." 

"C'mere," he said as he picked her up off her feet and hugged her tight. "I love you Chelle."

"I love you too Shawn," she replied as he set her down on her feet.

"I gotta go baby."

"Ok, have a safe trip and let me know when you land."

"I will. Take care and don't get in any accidents in this crazy holiday traffic."

"I'll be careful."

"Love you," he said, kissing her once more before he picked up his carry-on bag to go.

"Love you."

And with that he walked to the long line, waiting with all the other holiday travelers to go through security, turning to give her one last wave before she left the airport.
