Chapter 49

Michelle decided that since the theme for the evening was steamy romance, she was going to wear the leather and lace bustier she had purchased a month earlier at Mister Sister. She was going to wear it with her midi-length black leather pencil skirt and pair it with a vintage red Yves Saint Laurent mandarin collar jacket over it, that was made to be worn buttoned up instead of open like a casual jacket or blazer. That way Shawn couldn't see what she had on underneath the jacket until she picked the moment to reveal it. She anticipated he'd be blown away by the lingerie selection for the evening and she'd enjoy his reaction immensely.

She had gone into Carmen & Ginger, the vintage store she loved to shop at over at The Arcade Providence one day just to browse and the jacket called her name. Yes, it was a little more than she was planning on spending that day, but who could pass up a find like that? She knew she could wear it with so many different pairings and red was a color that made her happy as well as confident when she wore it, so she had bought it. Tonight would be the first opportunity she'd had to wear it and she thought the juxtaposition of sexy black leather and a prim vintage jacket was just perfect for the evening.

Instead of wearing her hair down, she decided to leave it in it's natural state of subtle waves to give it a bit of texture, but put it up in a simple chignon above the nape of her neck. It would give her more of a sophisticated look than her usual straightened hair or high ponytail. She put some perfume on her pulse points, then took time applying her makeup. When she was finished in the bathroom she went to her bedroom to put on her black thong panties and lace garter belt, as well as the black seamed stockings she had purchased from Mister Sister. She had to look in the full-length mirror to make sure the seams were straight before putting on the rest of her ensemble and black leather heels. She found the small black clutch her mother had given her years ago and put a few things in it she would need to take with her, then finished by putting on a pair of black onyx earrings to complete the outfit.

She made sure the ambience of the bedroom was perfect for a night of romance and then decided to have a small glass of white wine while she waited for Shawn to arrive. They hadn't seen each other since early that morning and she was excited to spend a romantic evening with him.

Shawn had already shaved and showered and dried his hair so he could tame his unruly curls, and was just about finished getting ready for the evening. He spritzed on his Gucci cologne and put on a pair of black dress pants, a black dress shirt with a subtle gray pinstripe and his black boots. He decided to forego a sports coat and opted to wear the new black leather jacket his mom and dad had given him for Christmas. As he gathered up a pair of pajama pants and some casual clothing to put on in the morning, he put those in his duffel bag and then grabbed his phone, keys and wallet. Before he left he remembered Michelle's bouquet and then headed out the door to his Jeep. He missed her all day since leaving her that morning and couldn't wait to spend an evening romancing her. It was just another way of showing her how much he loved her, even if he couldn't verbalize those feelings to her just yet.
