"Now you girls be careful driving in this snow," Gran implored, as she handed Michelle two tins of Christmas cookies, peanut brittle and other treats for the girls' weekend getaway to New Hampshire.

"We will Gran," Michelle assured her, giving her grandmother a hug and a kiss as she opened the front door.

"Don't worry, we'll be fine," Jane reassured her, "I'm driving Liam's Range Rover and it's got 4 wheel drive, so we can get through any kind of snowy conditions."

"I just worry about you girls driving on unfamiliar roads and getting there before dark."

"We'll make sure to let you know when we've arrived, ok?" Michelle grinned, giving her Gran one last hug.

"Alright then, have a good time," Gran agreed, also giving Xan, Dee and Jane each a hug as they walked out the door.

They put Michelle's things in the back and piled into the SUV to get settled and be on their way.

"Ok girlies, buckle up and let's get this show on the road!" Jane exclaimed as she set the GPS for their destination and prepared to pull away from the curb.

"It's just after 1:30, so without any delays we should get there before it gets dark, right?" Xan asked.

"Yeah, probably by 4:30 or so."

"Unless you have to keep stopping for frequent bathroom breaks," Michelle joked. "We all know you have an extra small bladder."

"Oh shush!" Xan made a face, pushing her in the shoulder as they got themselves situated in the backseat.

"Am I gonna have to separate you two?" Dee asked facetiously using a mom voice, turning in the passenger seat to give them a stern look.

"No mom, we'll behave," Michelle smirked, rolling her eyes.

On the long drive the girls caught up with what was going on in each other's lives at the moment, as Dee explained how she was seriously thinking about changing jobs and taking the position of teaching psychology at BU full-time. She also had sat down with Jack and had a long discussion about waiting a year to figure out whether or not they still wanted to get married.

"So he was alright with that?" Michelle asked.

"He was after I explained why I wanted to wait and how I wasn't rejecting the idea at all, I just want to get my career figured out."

"Well that's great Dee! I knew he'd understand once you laid out the whole thing to him."

"You're right. I do love him and I really think he's the one, so as long as we're on the same page and working on our relationship and keep talking about any issues that arise, then I think we're good and maybe by next year at this time we'll be engaged."
