"Ok babe, I've researched this and I think I've figured out where we can go to get away for a few days for my birthday and it's a place neither of us have been to," Shawn said as he scrolled through his phone.
"Where's that?" Michelle asked, curling up beside him on the couch.
"Ocean City, Maryland."
"And why did you pick Ocean City, Maryland?"
"Well, the beach for one, they also have a boardwalk which has been there for over a hundred years, the hotel I made reservations at was built in the same style as a Victorian manor that's been updated which I know you love and we can also drive out to Assateague Island which is part of Maryland and Chincoteague which is part of Virginia so we can see the wild horses and ponies that live there. We can take the Jeep all the way out to the tip of the island but only if we get there before sunrise. We'll have to look into it a bit more I guess, to see what the requirements are to drive out to the beach, but it sounds kinda cool. Apparently it was once attached to Fenwick Island but in the 1930's a really strong storm split it in two and left an inlet between the ocean to the bay. The whole place is part of the National Parks Service so there's park rangers and lifeguards and people can drive their campers or pitch tents out where it's set up for camping, although I know you would never be up for that."
"If God wanted me to transport my own shelter to live in, he would have made me a turtle or a hermit crab," Michelle smirked.
Shawn threw his head back and laughed at her comment, "I know honey, only the very highest quality accommodations for my girl will do. Although if you were a turtle or a hermit crab, I'm sure your shell would be very posh.
"I'm glad you see my point," she grinned. "Besides there's snakes and bugs and ticks out in the boonies and I don't want Lyme disease."
"Oh my God Chelle, I promise I won't take you anywhere that there might be snakes and bugs! Trust me, I know how that goes and I will NEVER bring up the subject of bugs with you again."
"I could probably be persuaded to go glamping, but I know that's not something you'd ever do with me. I'd have to get the girls to MAYBE agree to do that."
"No babe, you're right...I will never go glamping with you. That's just wrong on so many levels. Real men do NOT go glamping...that's just...no."
"Whatever. But anyway, you know you've gotten used to staying in upscale hotels with me and don't act like you don't enjoy it."
"Sweetheart, I enjoy staying with you anywhere. If we had to live under a rock I'd be happy as long as you're with me."
"Well, I appreciate the sentiment, but fortunately we won't be living under a rock."
"No, we'll just rock that kingsize bed in our beachfront hotel room," Shawn chuckled pulling her into a kiss.
"Oh you've got that right hot stuff," she replied, giving him a flirty wink.
