chapter 2

Edmund

The walls of Caspian's study were golden with paintings of us during our golden age. It was mesmerising as I watched Caspian go through a cupboard and hold out Lucy's cordial and dagger.

"Oh, may I?" Lucy asked.

"Of course. They're yours." Caspian told her as he handed her stuff back to her.

"Peter's sword." I said as I saw my older brothers sword in the corner making Caspian grab it.

"Yes. I looked after it as promised." He said as he held the sword towards me. "Here. Hold it if you wish."

"No, no it's yours. Peter gave it to you." I told him making him place it down as Hecta went to the cupboard.

"I did save this for you though." She said as she chucked my torch at me. I looked over it and felt a new carving and saw she had carved her initials on it making me smile towards her as Caspian began to tell us what this mission was about.

"Since you left us, the Giants of the North have surrendered unconditionally. And then we defeated the Calormen armies at the Great Desert. There is peace across all of Narnia." Caspian said making me proud as their hadn't been peace throughout Narnia since our golden age.

"Peace?" I asked making sure I heard him correctly.

"In just two years." Hecta said smiling at me. She was clearly so proud of her accomplishments since being Queen and I was for her too.

"And have you found yourself a Queen in those two years?" Lucy asked Caspian as she tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.

"No. Not one to compare with your sister." Caspian said making Lucy smile.

"Hang on so if there is no wars to fight and no one's in trouble, then why are we here?" I asked since the last times we entered Narnia was to help save it.

"That's a good question. I've been asking myself the same thing." Caspian said with a confused expression on his face.

"So where are we sailing to?" I asked as I looked towards a wall with drawings of people attached onto it.

"Before we took the throne off Miraz, he tried to kill Caspian's fathers closet friends and most loyal supporters. And they haven't yet returned." Hecta said making Lucy and I walk closer to the board.

"So you think somethings happened to them?" I asked.

"Well if it has, its my duty to find out." Caspian said.

"Uncharted waters." Drinian said making Hecta roll her eyes. "Things you can barely imagine. Tales of sea serpents and worse."

"Sea serpents?" I asked whilst smiling to hide the fact that I was terrified on those creatures.

"All right Captain, that's enough of your tall tales." Caspian said as he ushered Drinian out of the room.
