OVER THE YEARS OF THE PEVENSIES REIGN, the people from the village lived in Narnia and began to learn English to understand. Some people who had enough money got wood to build their new houses but the others would sleep in a room in the castle. Peter didn't like the idea because he didn't feel like they could trust him but Hecta ensured that they would not harm him or his reputation.
The Telmarines' who had blown up the poor village had still not seeked revenge upon the Kings and Queens of old for saving their innocent 'enemies' but Hecta had felt like they would soon and she didn't want them to hurt any Narnians new and old.
The woman that had once held a dagger up to his throat became quite close the Queens and Hecta. She was the closest with Hecta due to how they first met. Hecta would invite her into her sleeping quarters for some days. She had learned that her name was Caterina but Hecta liked to call her Cat for short. Caterina was the same age as Peter and she already knew about Hectas past but had said 'we can't change the past, but we can decide what to do in the future'. Hecta would never forget those words for as long as she would live.
Hecta and Susan had become close as well. They would tell eachother gossip about what was going around the castle through the staff and who Susan had liked.
Hecta and Lucy would tend to the garden that they both loved so much with the help of Mr Tumnus when he could. Lucy and Hecta would often swap book recommendations from the castles library as well. Hecta loved how trusting the youngest Pevensie was and loved how she treated the Narnians.
Hecta and Peter would argue sometimes but whenever they did it was as if they were siblings. One minute there arguing about what to do with the Narnian's the next they're laughing about when Peter had stabbed Hecta. With the help of Oreius, Hecta would train Peter so he knew everything she had learnt at a young age. In order to keep his reign he needed to know how to protect himself so well in battle he would only come out with a scratch. Hecta had also learned that Peter liked Cat and she admired it. If he wasn't with Cat he would ask Hecta all about her. She told him to just ask her out but he always ignored her so she gave up on saying and figured he would do it eventually.
Even though so much change had happened in Narnia there was one thing that stayed the same ans that was Edmunds feelings for Hecta. He hadn't told her due to being scared of rejection so he knew it wouldn't go anywhere but he liked his imagination of them being a couple. King and Queen. Ruling Narnia. Holding eachother close. It was all too good to be true Edmund thought and that's why it was only his imagination.
For once everyone in Narnia was happy. Happy be alive and happy to be free from the dreadful winter many summers ago. But Hecta wasn't. There was an empty place in her heart and it pained her. At night she would get nightmares about her Mum and Father that they were going to kill her for her sins. After as while she told Cat ,who also had nightmares about Telmarines, Hecta thought her and Susan understood her more than anyone and considered Edmund a close second.
It had been size years since Jadis had died and Peter and Cat were 22, Susan was 21, Edmund and Hecta were 19 and Lucy was 17. Hecta had woken up to Mr Tumnus telling her Peter had ordered a meeting for a couple of us. This intrigued her a lot which made her get changed very quickly as she made her way to the meeting room.
When she walked in she saw Cat, Peter,Susan, Lucy and Oreius at the table and no one else except Mr Tumnus who made his way to his seat.
"What's this about?" Hecta asked Peter then she realised Edmund wasn't there. Did something happen to Edmund? She couldn't bear that thought she cares deeply for the boy and didn't want to see him hurt or injured. Her thoughts were answered when she heard a voice behind her.
"If we're having a meeting then please tell me you've brought food because I can't do this on an empty stomach" He said as his stomach began to rumble as him and Hecta made their way to their usual seats which just happened to be next to eachother.
"I have called you here today to talk about possible marriages." Peter said making Edmund drop his piece of toast. "I'm not saying any of us have to get married right this way but in a couple of years when we're in need of an heir. So we will host some events at least once a year as u can get to know people from outside of Narnia and see if you would be willing to date them."
"How come you're just saying this now?" Edmund asked as he looked at Peter then back at Cat. Hecta saw what he was implying and kicked his foot under the table making him shout 'Ow' and Hecta to just smirk at him.
"I've just been thinking about our future as a family and if we need to be married to seem stronger to other people." Peter said as he sat next to Cat and everyone started to eat their breakfast and talk amongst themselves. Cat had been looking at him like he was perfect and in her eyes he was.
Hecta had learned something she didn't know before. Peter like Cat. Cat liked Peter. Cat and Peter were perfect for each other they just didn't know it yet but she will make them realise it. She could promise that.
"Why are you staring at Cat and Pete?" Edmund whispered making Hecta jump slightly as she turned to look at him.
"Cant you see?" She asked as he just shook his head to say no. "Well they both like each other but they're too scared to admit it." She told him making him smile.
"Yeah, I suppose your right." He said making her scoff.
"I'm always right Edmund, thought u knew that by now?" She said sarcastically making Edmund laugh and smile.
"Wanna play chess with me later?" He asked. They both enjoyed playing chess with each other but didn't like it that much playing with other people. It just wasn't the same.
