chapter 19

Edmund

It had been six years since we began our reign of Narnia as we lived peacefully with the people from the village. Caterina had been living in Cair Paravel with us and I think Peter has taken a liking to her. I can tell by the not so sneaky looks they give each other during meetings and the amount of time they spent together. I think they are secretly in a relationship with each other but I've kept my mouth shut not wanting to annoy my older brother.

It had been a couple of months since my 19th birthday which was celebrated in a big gathering of the Narnians. Today was a big day as Peter has spoken for weeks about a way to gain an alliance with the Telmarines to bring peace and avoid conflict that could potentially lead to wars. Hecta declined and said that Peter wouldn't be able to find a way purely because there isn't a way and she wants to be the first to laugh in his face when he couldn't find one. Only Hecta could challenge Peter like this as they have gained a sibling like relationship over the years.

"What is this about?" Hecta said when she entered the meeting room to find us all sat around the time. "Have you given up?" She smirked as she began to take her seat next to me.

"Actually no. I have found a solution." He said making everyone intrigued. "I was reading about Telmarine traditions about how they attempt to form alliances and the most common way to do that was through marriage of one heir to another. This is our only way to stop them from attacking us especially since we rescued Caterina and her people, no offence."

"None taken." Caterina said with a smile

"This doesn't have to be right now I just think it is wise if we think a head for when the opportunity shows itself." Peter continued.

"Who would have to be married?" Susan asked as Peter started to look at me causing everyone else to aswell.

"Are you joking?" I said. "The heir might not even be a woman, not there is anything wrong with that just not my preference."

"The heir is Princess Alyssa and you wouldn't have to marry her straight away if you don't like we can find a different solution. It depends when the King gets back to me on this courtship. I'm not forcing you into anything Ed, it's just a suggestion."

"I'll meet her but I can't promise anything Pete." I said feel a sharp pain in a stomach. I don't want to marry a stranger but I want to do right for Narnia. I looked over to my right and saw Hecta was avoiding eye contact with me which was weird. Caterina noticed this and tried to change the subject.

"We have some another news." Caterina said as she leaned closer to Peter.

"Oh my god you're pregnant." Hecta said making me chuckle

"What-no not at all." Caterina said with a disappointing headshake.

"Cat and I are together." Peter announced expecting everyone to be shocked but was confused when he didn't the reaction he clearly anticipated.

"Is that meant to be new information?" Lucy asked making Peter even more confused.

"Well yes because we didn't tell you." Peter said

"Pete come on we've seen how you both look at each other it was obvious." Susan said

"I thought we was sneaky." Peter said to Caterina.

"You weren't but congratulations guys." I said making them feel better. We all began to talk about personal stuff which clearly made the faun that guards our door bored as well celebrated Caterina and Peter.
