It's literally about a bunch of young boys who crash landed on an island, have to learn how to survive, literally at each others throats, they literally kill each other! And you're complaining that this book from the 1950's "has a lack of diversity"?
Um, you're not reading this to connect with them on a personal happy level like some teenage dystopian, you're reading this to see how a bunch of kids would really act if they were stranded on an island without an adult!
And it's a lose-lose situation.
Even if it did have diversity, considering the times, a gay character or a black character would be picked on by some of the others. Even then, they'd be young boys acting just as savage, and this person would complain about that!
