So COPPA is quite the annoyance to many.

Stands for:
Children's
Online
Privacy
Protection
Act

What they aim to do is make things safer for children.

The issue is that they're dumb.

Here's as the requestor said about it:

Its a movement (?) on kids channels (i believe) that are for kids content, one of my favorite youtubers; quit because of it. Its basically called COPPA and its made for a good cause (it stands for Children's Online Privacy Protection.) and she had to quit because of it, COPPA basically hit her channel - If you or someone gets hit by COPPA, its pretty hard to continue on YouTube like; you lose personalized ad revenue, comments, stories, community tab. so its basically hard to keep on going with COPPA hitting a channel because it had one scene in a video that wasn't meant for kids just because its a kids toy mini movie (Littlest pet shop) the youtuber is LPSHannah. she had great mini movies of LPS, and she was on YouTube for 10 years until 2020.

And this is what the youtuber, LPShannah, has said about it:

So people can't choose whether they want their videos with or without comments, or with or without being on YTKids.

And before you think "Well, if it is a step to protecting kids-"

There's also this:

They've also done it to things like Don't Hug Me I'm Scared and Charlie Brown Family Guy skits.

And the rules are this:

Regardless of your location, we require you to tell us whether or not your videos are made for kids according to an agreement with the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and to help you comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and/or other applicable laws.

...but people still upload their videos and say "They are not made for kids" and STILL get this!

Not only that, but there's very not-for-kids videos on YouTube Kids.

If you don't know about ElsaGate, they basically use famous kids-show characters, make it goofy to gloss it over, but do horrendous things. Some involve murder, abuse, violence, sexual things, kidnapping, etc. Some are like bad p0rn films poor cosplayers did, or as far as true nightmare fuel and subliminal messages. And because they feature things like MLP, Frozen, Spiderman, etc, it's marked for YTKids.
I heard they're cracking down more lately, but only because more people started calling it out.

And nothing's stopping kids from making accounts specifically to watch non-YTKids content. Kids these days are becoming more tech-savvy. So they can still very much find age-restricted videos and comment.

But LPS YouTubers like this have no say. It's not these YouTuber's jobs to babysit kids. Even big YouTubers such as Markiplier and Jacksepticeye have been striked for not having kid friendly videos.

Shutting the comments off and saying "This for kids!" isn't gonna do crap.

And what's the point of not letting kids videos be made into a playlist? Like, kids can't gather together their favorite videos? How is THAT not allowed?

Not to mention that even with the the crackdown, there's STILL things such as Banned From Ponyville and videos of cartoon characters straight up brutally murdering each other that stays up!
(I will never get over that horrid game...)

And other YouTubers, smaller ones, also lose 80% of their revenue because they have no say whether or not their content is for kids unless they have a big enough community and fight tooth and nail.

(And I don't know if this is due to COPPA or not. But if you report multiple accounts in a short period of time (Say the spam accounts harassing Jacksepticeye about his dad or the p0rn bots), YOU get a warning that YOUR ACCOUNT will get removed!)

And this is all mainly due to COPPA.

COPPA and YT suck. Really.
