"Poor. Cheap. Trash. Cheap. Trash. Junk. Poor."

Peter did his best to ignore Flash's running commentary of his belongings and focus on the task. The sooner he finished the partner project, the sooner Flash would leave his house.

Flash slammed a drawer and opened the wardrobe. The stream of abuse stopped. Peter looked up in confusion, then swore in his head. Flash was staring wide-eyed at Peter's Spider-Man suit.

"Parker, what is this?"

"It's a Spider-Man costume," Peter made up on the spot, glancing frantically around his room for inspiration. "Um, for Halloween."

"This is way more realistic than anything you could afford," Flash examined the suit.

"That's because I made it myself. I'm, uh, I'm even working on web shooters to go with it."

"Oh, really. You think you, Puny Parker, can pull off being Spider-Man for Halloween?"

"...yeah?" He said uncertainly.

Flash raised his eyebrows. "This, I have got to see. Come to my place next week, I'm having a costume Halloween party. Wear this, and see how long you can stay in character. If you convince me, I'll give you twenty bucks. Otherwise I'm telling everyone you have a man crush on Spidey." Flash smirked, waiting for Peter to decline.

Was it a bad idea? Yes. Could it reveal his identity? Yes. Would it put Flash in his place? Absolutely. Was he going to do it?

"Okay, deal. See you there."

🎃

Flash could honestly say he was surprised when he found Spider-Man stood at his door on the night of his party. He thought the boy would be too chicken, but he was obviously wrong.

"Parker?"

"Yeah, hi."

"Okay, let's see how long you can keep this up for." He raised his voice. "Look guys, it's Spider-Man!"

There were a few laughs, and a couple of people drifted over to say hi. Peter dealt with them with surprisingly convincing Spidey charm and confidence, leaving Flash gawking in the doorway. Maybe this would go a lot differently than expected.

Peter continued to mingle, accepting compliments for his costume, enduring teasing about how he should be out fighting crime, and taking selfies with other partygoers who'd dressed up as him. Flash followed at a distance, observing his conversations. Peter was trying so hard, it was almost painful, but Flash's guests were lapping it up.

"Hey, are you the real Spider-Man?"

"Shh, I'm undercover," Peter winked and shot a stand of something white, making the group squeal with laughter. When he left, Flash got closer and realised it was silly string. Clever, he grudgingly had to admit.

"Nice costume, man! Mind if I take a quick pic?"

"Not at all!" Peter threw up a peace sign.

"Did you make it yourself?"

"No, Tony Stark helped out."

"Sure, man. Thanks!" She laughed and moved on. Flash sighed. Peter couldn't seriously keep this up all night. Could he?

"Yo, Spidey! Go on the ceiling or something!"

"I totally would, but I'm off duty right now!" Peter raised his (non-alcoholic) punch glass to some whoops and jeers.
