Spoilers for The Marvels (also, thoughts on the movie anyone? personally I thought it was very fun)

"I'm putting together a team, and I want you on it." Kamala Khan paused. Kate Bishop - another young hero, how cool was that? - didn't break eye contact. Kamala looked away first. "Please?"

Finally, finally, Hawkeye cracked a smile. (And just like Kamala, she had the same name as the person who trained her! Well, kind of? Look, Kamala was excited. Nick Fury was just a man. If he could do it, she could too. Plus, she had access to all of his intel (she probably wasn't meant to)).

"So, what," Kate said, throwing her bow onto the couch. Her dog loudly ate pizza. "You're making a Junior Avengers?"

"I mean, I was thinking we could come up with a better name, but yeah, basically?" Kamala felt her voice pitching into a whine and tried to control it. She'd hung out with Captain Marvel. Nothing else could impress her. She didn't need Kate Bishop's approval.

"And so far it's just us?"

Us! She said us! "Um, yeah. Yeah, just us. So far."

"Could be fun. Clint won't introduce me to his team, why not make our own?" Kate shrugged. Kamala was not going to freak out about her being on a first-name basis with an Avenger. She knew Carol. Carol was much cooler. "Yeah, I'm in. Archery's a pretty niche skill anyway. Need some teammates to spice things up."

"Thank you thank you th- I mean, uh, welcome to the team. You made the right choice."

"Pizza?" Kate offered instead of acknowledging that, to Kamala's gratitude.

"Yeah. Yes, thanks."

"So, mystery girl, who are you?"

"Oh! Right, I'm Kamala. I'm Ms Marvel."

"Ms Marvel?"

Kamala called on her powers and her fist lit up. Kate sucked in a breath, looking actually impressed. "I can turn energy into matter," Kamala explained.

"Awesome. So, who's next?"

"What?" Kamala asked around a mouthful of pizza.

"The recruitment drive? Can I go sit in the dark in someone's house or have you bagsied that job?"

"Oh," Kamala laughed nervously. "I'm still, uh, looking into potential candidates."

"Let me see," Kate made grabby hands for the tablet but Kamala snatched it away.

"Hey, fun fact: the Hulk has a son! That's... that's all anyone knows about him, but if we could find him maybe he'd join us?"

Kate tilted her head, ponytail swinging. "How did he even... no, I don't want to know. Did you say Ant-Man has a daughter?"

"Yes! Cassie. She's got one of those shrinking suits too, according to this," she waved the tablet, "she saved the quantum realm, which, I think is like a tiny parallel dimension? Unclear."

"Right."

"Tony Stark obviously doesn't have kids, although I'm looking into something there, we've got Hulk, Hawkeye, Captain Marvel and Ant-Man covered... I wonder if Black Widow has a daught-"

"No," Kate said.

"What?"

"No. She has a sister, and we are staying far, far away from her."

"Oh- okay." Kamala pulled a crumpled mindmap out of her pocket and scribbled something out. "If you say so."

Kate sidled closer, peering at the notepaper. "What about..." she snapped her fingers. "Thor! Are there any baby gods out there?"
