The day before the battle,

"How is he doing?" Misaki asked Draken while watching Mikey stare off into the sky from the jungle-gym of his childhood park.

Draken hummed and leaned against his bike. "As well as he can. He doesn't want to fight with Baji."

Misaki half-nodded and lowered her voice before asking, "...and how did meeting up with him go?"

Draken averted his eyes to Mikey to make sure he wasn't listening before looking back at her. "I met up with him last night. I asked him to call off the fight...but, I'm sure as you can see, that didn't work."

Misaki clicked her tongue and crossed her arms in annoyance. "I'm not surprised. I know you don't want to fight Kazutora, but we have no choice."

Especially considering he's the reason Baji is supposed to die.

It was silent between the two of them after that, and they stared off into the distance same as Mikey. However, the silence wasn't to last, if the footsteps making their way towards them was any sign.

Misaki turned to see a familiar quaffed blonde. "Hey, Takemichi." She said, sending him a small wave and smile, while Draken opted to nod his direction. He waved back but looked very nervous.

"So? Did you manage to get Baji back?" Mikey than asked, also noticing his appearance. Takemichi gulped nervously and walked closer to Mikey before explaining that Baji had no intention of ever coming back to Toman.

"He told me...that you're his enemy and...he plans to kill you tomorrow," Takemichi started, a flustered looking taking ahold of his expression. "He told me...he told me to make sure you knew that. Nothing will ever make him come back to Toman."

Misaki heard Draken sigh before he stepped away from the rest of them, likely to gather his thoughts.

"...I see." Mikey stated. Then, "When we were kids, Baji and I played on this jungle-gym a lot."

He smiled softly. "We fought all the time...but then we would make up right after...but this time, it looks like he really has it out for me, huh?"

Takemichi averted his eyes to hers for a moment, a look of urgency in them, before turning back to Mikey.

"I'm sorry I couldn't bring him back." He said shakily, genuinely upset that he couldn't convince him.

It was worth a try, Takemichi.

Mikey's smile fell and he sat upright on the jungle-gym. "You did nothing wrong. It's not your fault if Baji doesn't want to back down. He's turned against Toman. That's all there is to it."

He then paused, before glaring in front of him. "The fight's tomorrow; I've made up my mind."

Takemichi half-nodded, a sad look crossing his face, before turning to Misaki.

"I need to talk to you." He stated lowly, as to not get Mikey's attention. She nodded and waved him over, figuring they could walk over to a secluded area in the park.

"We'll be back, Mikey." She then said, sending him a wave. He didn't turn to look at them, but nodded, likely stuck in his thoughts.

When they got far away enough, Misaki plopped herself onto the grass and rubbed at her temples.

"What happened?" She then asked, curious to know what new information he had.

Takemichi sat down across from her and fiddled with the laces on his shoes nervously.
