Narrator POV
Lizzie and Aubrey had a great day. They enjoyed their time while walking through the streets of New York. They carried their walk into the Central Park taking in the whole beauty of fall. The leafs fall. The sun is shining. The crispy air and the pumpkin late in their hands warming them from inside out.
Both weren't sure where they where standing now.
It was a situation that floated between being friends and lovers. Both wanted to find out what was about to happen next and what time will bring them.Lizzie didn't want to drag herself right into Aubrey life. Especially since she found out what has happened in the past years. Now that Aubrey is a single woman again she really wants to be the reason why she is in a relationship again. But she knows that Caitlin was important to her and she was the one who helped her through the past four years. She was even the one who told her on graduation day what happened to her parents. She understands that Aubrey can't cut the emotions and especially not the connection she has towards her.
But at some point Lizzie really want Aubrey to be hers. So bad that It actually hurts to see her like this. So drained in emotions that she doesn't even know where to start. Lizzie swore herself that she will be there for Aubrey with every single step she takes. Even if she doesn't want to be with her she won't let her go through life alone. Not now not ever.
Aubrey definitely has the feeling that she need Lizzie in her life back. Not just temporary but in long term. She cares for her endlessly and she doesn't know if she should show it already.
She clearly has some unspoken things she needs to Let out but she doesn't want to stress it and just say it. But before she does it she wants to clear something that she should have done way sooner. She should have done it since she found out that Lizzie didn't obtain the letter. She definitely needs to pay someone a visit. Someone who changed her whole past four years. If she would have got this letter she might have been there for Aubrey from the start. But because of him she was thinking she was not worth to be followed.
„Hey it's already dark do you think we should back home?" Lizzie asked Aubrey and she glanced to her shaking her head.
„I was actually thinking to honor tonight. A bar or a club. Of course only if you want to." she offered her and Lizzie smiled widely. The way Aubrey always asks if she wants to do it is heart warming.
„Of course I'd love to. But it depends on if I have something to dress up in." she replied and Aubrey shook her head.
„I have a place where I saw the perfect dress for you when we where walking down the streets earlier. They might close soon so let's hurry."
Aubrey grabbed Lizzie's hand and dragged her behind her. After some blocks she reached the designer she was talking about. They where closing but Aubrey knocked at the door pointing at the dress so they opened.
„Oh my god Aubrey Mathews. H-hi how can I help you?" the seller asked while letting them both in.
„Hi I wanted to get that dress. The green one on the mannequin." Aubrey pointed out to the dress behind her.
„Should it be for you or for someone else?" she asks while they walk to the dress.
„For her actually." Aubrey pointed to Lizzie who stood next to her.
The seller watched Lizzie closely and she smiled widely.
„I see. You picked the right color. Her eyes would shine in that dress perfectly. Let me get it for you."
„Aubrey don't you think this is a bit to much?" Lizzie whispered and Aubrey shook her head.
„Not at all. We are in New York. You need to stand out. And this is the right dress for you." the seller came back with the dress and Lizzie's jaw dropped. She held her hand in front of her mouth glancing to Aubrey who had a wide smile on her face.
