Aubrey POV

I feel a bit nervous standing at the law building my dad owned once. It's huge and I'll pass it to someone who is a real lawyer and capable off leading such a company. The streets of New York where filled and it still feels like I am standing alone in front of this huge building.

„Hey. Ready to go in?" I feel Lizzie's hand graze over mine which pulled me out of my mind space.

„Hmm. Nothing special will happen. Just me signing some papers." I breathed out still looking up but my gut tells me that something will go wrong.

„You don't seem like you want to do it." Lizzie read me like an open book and she was bloody right.

„It's not that I don't want to because I do. But I feel like something is off. I can't tell what it is and it scares me." I answered honestly and I felt Lizzie's hand intertwine with mine.

„You'll be fine. I'll be down here. If you need anything call me in and I'll be there." she replied squeezing my hand slightly.

„I know. I'm sorry that you can't go in with me. It's probably for the best." I told her and she nod.

„Will it take Long?" she asks and I shrugged my shoulders.

„I'm not sure. I'll have a bunch of lawyers there and the notary as well for the testament. We will go through everything. But I'll try to do it as fast as I can." I squeezed her hand and she rubbed my upper arm for comfort.

„Don't worry about me. I'll wait as long as it takes." she answered and I nod.

„I should probably head up." I answered and she let go of my hand and I felt how it got colder.

„I'll be here if you need me." she replied giving me a kiss on my cheek.

„I know. See you later. Thanks for being there for me." I replied and she gave me a half smile.

I made my way up into the office section and it was a packed day. Typical for Monday. I shouldn't have expected anything else. I stroked my suit down to look my best not for those men but because it gave me more confident.

„Miss Mathews. Good to see you back in New York. How has it been?" the soon to be boss of my dads firm shakes my hand and I nod at him sitting down.

„I think we can cut the formalities mister Heath. Where is everyone?" I ask as I look around into the empty office.

„Right. They'll be here in a minute. I just wanted to check. It won't be easy to give a legacy like this away." he stretched his arms out signing me that he means the law firm and this whole building.

„With all due respect. I'm not specified for this type of job. The best thing I could do is to hand it to someone who is known in this area off work." I elaborated and he nod while leaning back into his chair.

„I understand. It takes an immense amount off courage to give this away. But I'll take good care off it." he relied and I nod.

„I hope we can start the session." the notary spoke up and I turned around getting up to greet everyone.

Gwen walked in with all the male lawyers and she sat down next to me.

„Haven't seen you in a while. How are you feeling?" she asks me and I glanced around.

„Could be better but other than that thanks. And you? How is work?" I asked and she shrugged her shoulders.

„Y'know work. But I'm good. Are you ready to sign it over?" she asks and I nod.
