(for reference, this takes place during the mission to retrieve dokutah)

Chaos.

That one words sums up the atmosphete in the land of Chernobog. There was nothing but destruction, as far as the naked eye could see, as Reunion forces kept up their blitzing attack on the city.
Reunion was an organization consisting of people infected with oripathy, a type of disease that once contracted meant you would have your life changed.
Mostly for the worst.
These people hold a great grudge against the normal, uninfected masses who mostly treats them as outcasts, filth, living bad omens.
Violent clashing of sharp metals echo throughout the air as their swords battled with what resistance the Ursus guards put up against them. Innocent civilians, young and old, man and woman, child and adult were caught in the crossfire, but that was exactly what Reunion's members wanted.

Suffering. Pain. They wanted them to feel what they felt.

Amongst the chaos, a small group of people was slithering their way through, carefully and swiftly trying to make their way to safety, as this group was on a mission to safely ensure the return of someone they were extracting from that hectic place.

They operated under a pharmaceutical company named  'Rhodes Island'. Even though that was the case, this group consisted of not just people well versed in medicine, but also experienced armed personnels. Mercenaries, if you will.

However, their own situation wasn't any better than the whole situation of the city itself, as a black gloomy cloud slowly sailed over the already devastated nomadic city.

Named a catastrophe, it was god's judgement on mankind that brought with it disasters of unimaginable devastation.

But as they pushed through, somehow one of their medic operators managed to get herself separated from the squad,

Left alone, with no safe way to make it back to her squad, she cowered away into a small dark alley, hoping to hide herself away from all the lurking terrors that surrounded her, wishing her squad mates would come to her aid right away.

"Hey, you! Don't think you can hide!" A shout echoed through the alley where she sat in. Her eyes' widen in fear, as she sees the figure of a man holding a sword, looming at the entrance of the alley.
She panicked. She didn't know what to do. Her mind fell blank. Her whole body froze in place, thinking that this might be it for her. Dying alone in a dark small alley, where nobody even knew where she was. She only had that thought circling inside her head as the reunion soldier kept walking towards her.
Step by step.
When he finally reached her, he reached and drew out his sword, pulling his arm high as he mustered all his strength to kill this woman in just one fatal strike.

She closed her eyes, resigned to her impending fate.

"......huh...?"

The sword was supposed to have struck her by now, so why was she still breathing? Out of curiosity, even with fear filled in her heart, she opened her eyes slightly, but her eyes sprung wide open after she saw what was now in front of her. The dead body of the very same soldier who approached her. Blood was oozing out of it, and standing behind the body was a masked figure.

She couldn't recognize the man, nor even see his face, as a mask with a mural of a skull, along with sunglasses and a cap covered his features. He wore an outfit akin to a soldier, and had armguards equipped on his forearms. His right hand held a pistol, but there were still another holstered on himself. Her eyes darted around, as if scanning the surrounding area, as well as the man before her, if there was any more danger.

"Are you alright?" the man asks her.

"I-I'm fine, thank you for saving me." She answered, somewhat cautiously as she didn't know what this person's intentions really are. The man then takes a closer look at her outfit, eyeing her around before asking her,
