"Hey guys, this is (Y/N) and Bella," Jacob introduces the two of you to the pack. You give a small wave to everyone, but one of them catches your eye. Paul Lahote.

Jacob takes you around the group, introducing you and Bella to each member of the group one by one, including Kim and Emily. The last one he gets to is Paul.

You knew some things about him, like how he''s a hotheat, a player, not the best kinds of things. But right now, he showed none of that. He was completely different than you were expecting.

"Hi," he smiles, reaching his hand out for you. You laugh nervously and take his hand, feeling a spark run through your arm. "I'm Paul."

"It's nice to meet you, Paul. I've...heard a lot about you, actually." His expression drops immediately, knowing the reputation he has.

"Right," he clears his throat. Your eyebrows furrow and before he can walk away, disappointed, you grab his wrist.

"I didn't say that I believed them," you say. His entire face lights back up, a hopeful glint in his eyes. "You're just going to have to prove me wrong." He smiles widely and flushes, nodding profusely.

"Alright, uh, okay, yeah," he nervously replies, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. You giggle and walk away, taking a seat on a log in front of the fire.

"Hey you," Embry plops down next to you.

"Embry!" You cheer, hugging him tightly. "I haven't seen you in a while. But Jake told me it was because of the whole wolf thing."

"Yeah, it's been a crazy few weeks, but I'm happy to be back."

You could feel a pair of eyes on you from across the fire, but you didn't dare to look up. You had an idea of whose they were, though.

As the sun sets, you all enjoy the hot dogs and hamburgers that Sam made, chatting, catching up, and getting to know the others.

Still, Paul couldn't keep his eyes off of you, for a couple reasons. He was jealous of Embry, for one, who you seemed really close to; he had no idea that you two were already friends before all of this happened.

Second, he couldn't help but notice how beautiful you are. He didn't want to look away from you whatsoever. He was enamored by you, and he needed to get to know you better.

The boys decided to go play a game of soccer before daylight was completely gone. Paul, however, hung back, claiming he didn't feel like playing. But they knew the reason, with their mind reading abilities and all.

"So you've lived in Washington your whole life?" Kim asks, taking a seat next to you, now that it was vacant.

"Yeah," you smile, turning a bit towards her. "I used to live in Seattle, but my dad had to move down to Forks for a job, so I've been here for over ten years now."

"And that's how you met Jacob?"

"Uh huh. We met at this beach, actually. I was surfing here in La Push and he came over to ask if I'm new to town, and to compliment me on my surfing," you tell her.

Paul watches you and Kim chat with a semi-intense glare. It was more of a respectful one, one of which he was just too entranced by you and your voice to look away. Though you didn't really notice.
