I managed to avoid Nathan for the rest of the day, which wasn't hard seeing as he kept himself locked in the office. Maybe serving Nathan the truth had done him so good, with the added benefit that it kept him away from me.
I ventured to the kitchen, and shuffled to find something to eat in the fridge. I hadn't realized how low my calorie intake had been since being in this place. Each dress that I wore was becoming looser than the last, and I wouldn't let Nathan be the reason for my poor health anymore. I grabbed for a carton of juice, and immediately dropped it at the sight of what was happening in the backyard.
A werewolf with a thick brown coat, had another by its neck. It's large paw pressed down on the others neck, claws submerged in it's jugular, blood dripping and seeping through the fur. There were several deep slashes down its torso and arms and copious amounts of blood spilling out from each gash.
"Anyone else you have on your shit list?" Matthew said in passing. I was beyond stunned, I could barely register Matthew's snide remark. "Better clean that up." He gestured at the juice pooled at my feet.
"Who - who is that?" I stuttered, unable to look away from the scene before me.
"Don't be surprised when this becomes the new norm for anyone who wrongs you," he grinned.
He walked away ignoring my question, and I continued to stare in horror at the scene unfolding before me. As a final move, the werewolf that I knew without a doubt was Nathan, severed the others neck from the body. Deep, red blood pooling out faster than before - I ran to the sink to puke and when I looked back up, Nathan had transformed. He was covered in blood, and had a few scuffs on him. The other werewolf laid dead outside.
"There's a dress for you on your bed," Nathan coolly said as he opened the door and walked inside.
I continued to stand there in shock as Nathan carried on as if nothing had just occurred. I had just witnessed Nathan kill another werewolf in cold blood, and I would be an idiot if I denied who had just been slaughtered.
"And by the way, if it wasn't clear, you will listen, and you will stay here with a smile on your face." Nathan coolly said and walked off.
All the muscles in my body were frozen, and I couldn't find the strength to move a single one. I starred at the dead, rigid body in horror. The grass was stained red, guts spilling out, everything was on display. Yet again, I had caused this.
I returned to my room in a trance, unable to think straight and viewed the slinky fabric on my bed.
I gulped as my hands threaded through the fabric. I would barely call it a dress, the fabric was thin, revealing and the thin appliqués were everywhere to cover parts of my skin, and I used that word generously. It sparkled in the light and my irritation returned.
He did this on purpose, he knew I wouldn't be able to fight him back after what he just did. It was becoming a game of who could push who who further.
I sat there on the bed for a while, the dress beside me, and my mind still elsewhere after the events of earlier. He was going to kill me, he could kill me. He killed Cassidy. The werewolf's dismembered body flashed through my mind. I couldn't get the image out. I snapped up as Nathan entered my room.
"Why aren't you dressed?" Nathan asked.
"Nathan," I paused, but couldn't find the words to complete a passable sentence.
"Why aren't you dressed?" He repeated.
"I can't possibly wear this. It's incredibly revealing, and I wouldn't feel comfortable."
"It'll be fine," Nathan replied, and continued to groom his hair in my vanity mirror.
"It's cold out," I bickered.
