Gabe's P.O.V

I continued to gaze at Dyllon's distressed face, I wanted to comfort and console her, and wrap her within my arms, but I had to tread lightly. She was only just gaining my trust back too. I wanted her to continue to feel comfortable enough to confide in me, and only me.

She stifled back a sob, and I gave her a sympathetic look.

"Come here," I said, and she obeyed. I gently wrapped my arms around her, and she tucked her head against my chest.

"I don't know if I said thank you," she paused. "But thank you for keeping me alive."

I nodded, and rested my jaw on top of her head.

"I know I've been sleeping for a while, but do you think it's okay if I just go retire for the day? It feels like all I've done is sleep but honestly, after this morning, I am mentally exhausted." Dyllon said.

"Of course," I said. "I'll catch you in the morning."

I sat across Damien, sprawled out on his sofa, resisting the temptation of my eyes closing shut from the lack of sleep I'd had.

"What do we do when Nathan comes back?" I asked.

"I guess we will just have to wait and see," Damien answered. "I trust Dyllon to not provoke him, but I can't say the same for him."

"She's terrified of him now, I think she feels the same way about Nathan as she does Matt," I noted.

I viewed this as a positive - not the part where Dyllon was hurt or scared, but the part where Nathan would be out of the picture now.

"Do you think he'll leave her alone?" I asked.

"Have you met him?" Damien exhaled. "He's more determined than anyone."

"Fuck," I groaned.

"This is all fucked though," Damien said. "She still lives on this floor, and so do the rest of us. How do we pick up the pieces from here and keep going?"

"I don't know," I replied. "Figure it out as we go?"

"She's a good person," Damien sighed. "This wasn't supposed to happen to her and we shouldn't have let it happen. Matt was right about being adamant about not having her live here, she got too tangled up in our lives."

"We can't honestly blame ourselves," I said. "We did our best, and we did what we had to. It was bound to happen. Once you get close to humans, they figure it out, piece by piece."

Damien frowned. "Do they? Or were we careless? She suspected you Gabe."

I shrugged. "Sometimes I get tired of hiding."

"This isn't funny. She was never supposed to find out, no one is. But now that she knows, I can already sense there will be more problems down the road. This won't be the first or last time she gets caught up in something because of us."

"There should be less complications if she knows," I said.

"Doubt it. The more people that come into our lives, the more exposed she is going to be to both the good and the bad."

I ran my hands through my hair, Damien was right. It seemed all hunky dory for the time being, but things were never as they seemed, or as easy as one wished.

I was grateful that Damien and I had always been close and had this bond, something that I completely lacked with Nathan. But there was something about werewolves that I couldn't get past, and Nathan happened to be someone I was never able to connect with. It gave me an odd amount of satisfaction that Dyllon was no longer wasting her time with him, and she could see the worst sides of him exposed.
