It had felt like I had been here for weeks, but it had been mere days. The days were passing slower than anything I had ever known before. Thankfully this week ahead would be absent of Kellen and Kathareena's disapproving looks, as they had "business" to attend elsewhere and I hoped that would somehow speed up my time.
Since the incident at the hotel, Damien had not visited, and to my disappointment, Gabe had not made an appearance yet either. I was beginning to think I had to carry the weight of all these relationships on my shoulders.
I snapped out of my pathetic thoughts, as Trinity approached me while I ate my breakfast. I prepared myself for cattiness. We barely interacted with one another, but I could tell that was by choice on both ends. I wasn't in the mood today, not after being lectured by Nathan this morning for not "trying hard enough" again. Whatever that meant.
"Morning Trinity," I managed to say.
"Cut the small talk," she barked, and looked around to make sure the room was clear of anyone listening. "Did you mean what you said about Nathan needing an additional female presence in his life?"
I had never said additional, and she knew that, but I nodded.
"And?" She pushed.
"And what? Trinity, I have been here for a week and a half, I can't move mountains in that amount of time."
"You're still pining after him, aren't you?" Trinity snarled.
I laughed at the absurdity of the situation. A female werewolf was actually jealous of me.
"You want to know what he said when I tried to suggest you two come together?"
"What?" She rolled her eyes.
"He told me to stay away from you. So what is he hiding?"
"Why don't you ask him?" She scoffed. "I'll give you a hint so you don't suffer too long. Let's just say he and I had a great time together while you were out of the picture. I took his mind off of you."
"If that's true, let me be clear," I paused. "He's yours."
Had Nathan really hooked up with Trinity whilst I was gone? I didn't take Nathan as someone who would be unfaithful, even for a minute. While we weren't together, he had no problem telling the world we were, including Trinity. I suddenly was hit with a twinge of sadness, not because of Nathan, but because my thoughts drifted to Ryder. Ryder was the prime example of a womanizer. He had already sought someone else out now that I was out of the picture. It's not like we had ever really talked about what was going on between us, so he didn't owe me anything, but I couldn't help but feel jealous every time I thought of his arm wrapping around that women's waist. Just like the way he would slowly wrap his arms around me, and pull me in, like I was his to please.
"Then do me a favour, and get out of the picture." Trinity barked snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Trust me, I'm trying."
"You're such a liar."
"How?"
"All he does it talk about you and how you chase after him day after day. I see you in the halls, following him in and out of every room like a lost puppy."
"Chase? You think I follow him around by choice every day? You think I like being glued to his arms in the evening?"
"You seem happy enough when I see you."
"It's a facade, Trinity! Just like how you pretend to not be a stuck up bitch when he's in the room with us." I was so frustrated. Was she intentionally trying to get under my skin? "I didn't take you to be this daft."
