"Get out." Nathan growled at Damien. I glanced up and I immediately saw Nathan's blood-shot eyes and his hands clenched into tight fists. He was definitely in a pissy mood, his body slightly trembling. Was this the after math of becoming a werewolf?
"Nathan, calm down." Damien replied, and gently pulled me off of him.
"I said get out!" Nathan roared.
"You can talk to her." Damien replied. He silently acknowledged and gave me a small nod. I watched him walk out past Nathan, and he left the door slightly ajar.
"So you aren't my girlfriend anymore?"
"Who said that?" I stuttered. The fear rose in my throat as Nathan closed in, the gap between us getting smaller and smaller.
"My brother, he was talking to me about my ex-girlfriend!"
"You almost killed me last night!" I cried out. "A-and, I don't even know what to think."
"Why are you such a cold-hearted bitch?" Nathan yelled at the top of his lungs, and pinned me against a wall.
"Nathan stop!" I choked out. "You're scaring me."
He pushed me harder. "Please, my back hurts...you're reminding me of Matthew."
"There is nothing wrong with Matthew!" Nathan roared. "You're being irrational and stupid."
"Nathan, please," I stumbled for words. "Can we talk calmly? I'm still in quite a bit of pain and I-"
The door opened, and Damien rushed in, with Mitchell at his side. If Nathan was going to listen to anyone, surely it would be his family. I didn't need rescuing, but maybe I did if they had supernatural strengths and abilities.
Mitchell pulled Nathan off of me, and Damien gripped his arms and dragged him out of the room. Nathan snarled with resistance, but Damien was mumbling to him and convincing him to leave. It was silent for a moment as the door closed, but then I heard the two yelling - mostly Nathan.
"Shouldn't we stop them? What if one of them hurts the other?" I asked. I didn't want Damien to get hurt, I didn't really know what a demon's abilities were, but honestly, it didn't look like anything compared to Nathan's.
"No," Mitchell replied. "They'll be okay."
I tugged at my hair, and then found a seat. My back was beginning to throb again, and I needed time to re-compose myself. I looked up at Mitchell, who was starring at me and awkwardly looked away.
"My turn to ask you a question," I said.
"Okay..." Mitchell nodded.
"I hope this doesn't come off as rude, but why did you have to talk about me to your brother? Out of everything?" I interrogated.
"I was just asking why he broke up with you, or vice versa." Mitchell quickly answered. "I didn't mean for it to backfire, I was just genuinely curious and trying to catch up with him. You seem nice enough, so I was just trying to understand what happened."
"Isn't it kind of obvious?" I whispered.
"I'm sorry. I really am. Nathan isn't usually like this either though. I think it's the morning after becoming a werewolf and all the stress, and on top of it, the stress of what happened to you."
I didn't really know how to reply. It felt like his brother was trying to place a bit of guilt on me, but that wasn't going to fly.
"I'm going to go," Mitchell said, sensing the clear tension between us.
"Yeah, okay," I nodded.
The hallway had gone quiet, and the door opened, with Gabe stepping through and closing it behind him. I just wanted to leave this house now, and go back to my own privacy, with my own lock on my door, and forget any of this ever happened.
