At 6 PM right on the dot, there was a knock on the door. I grabbed my purse, and opened the door with a nervous smile. I wasn't one to get flustered over such a small thing, but I felt like this was a step in the right direction.

"Gabe?" I was confused. "What are you doing here?"

"I was wondering if you were busy," Gabe said, eyeing my outfit up and down, and I could feel my face go red.

I was about to answer, but Nathan who was behind Gabe answered for me.

"She already has plans," Nathan smirked, and then cut in front of Gabe and grabbed my hand. "Let's go."

"Next time?" I asked Gabe to be polite.

He nodded and then the elevator doors shut.

"Where are we going?" I asked

"To a nice restaurant," Nathan smiled, and I could see his eyes raking my body up and down. I had settled on something a bit more conservative for the evening, which I was thankful for, seeing as his eyes were roaming down my body, and locking onto any bare skin it could. I became conscious about the cleavage I had opted for, and awkwardly crossed my arms across my torso.

I wasn't really expecting something really fancy or thrilling on our first...wait our first date?

We walked to his car, and he opened the door like a gentleman, and then we drove past the laundromat and all the blocks I had managed to explore so far. We drove deeper, and deeper into town until it was unrecognizable.

"I have never seen this part of the town," I noted. "Granted, it looks like you need a car to get this far, but it's so different from where the building is."

"Yeah, a lot of people don't come to this part," Nathan said.

"So then why are you taking me here?" I teased.

"You'll be safe with me, and it's an extraordinary place."

Safe? What did Nathan think I was in danger, or someone who couldn't fend for myself? I chuckled at the thought of being a damsel in distress that he needed to protect.

Speaking of danger, I had to stop avoiding Gabe, and get to the bottom of that drink in his fridge. If I just ruled out that he wasn't part of a cult that drank blood, and that I wasn't at risk of my blood being extracted, I would be at ease. I just couldn't get past that drink, and now every time he approached me, goosebumps covered my arms and I felt uneasy. I knew I was being silly... too much T.V, too much reading fictional books, but my heart was tugging me in a different direction. At the same time it was Gabe, and he had been more than sweet.

"I hope you have an appetite, the food is delicious." Nathan said, forcing me to leave my estranged thoughts.

"Starving," I grinned. "What type of food does this place serve?"

"A little bit of everything," Nathan said. "It's a little steak heavy, but the menu is quite expansive."

"Is it one of those places that give you a tiny portion and then you're still hungry afterwards?" I joked.

"Yes," Nathan replied. "But at least then we can go for dessert."

"I was joking," I nervously said,  but Nathan didn't say anything back, and I twiddled my fingers. I was trying to pick my brain for a few conversation starters but I was just drawing a blank. It was so unlike me to feel pressure to entertain someone, but it was his lack of amusement on my last statement that had be overthinking everything I said now.

"Any type of favourite foods?" I stupidly asked.

"Seafood," Nathan replied and I nodded, hoping he would ask me back, but then silence.
