Dyllons P.O.V

I stepped out of the taxi and looked up at my new home. I wasn't thrilled to be moving into this building, but I was glad to be leaving the dump I used to live in behind. From the outside the brick exterior was nothing special and from looking at the photos of the interior online, it still wasn't really anything beyond great. But it seemed near impossible to find vacancies in this city, so I would take what I could get.

For the first time in a long time, I was feeling at ease. I was finally free from being with my assigned guardians, and free to start my own life. I was away from them and any baggage that may have come with me from my past. I had been left in custody with my Aunt and Uncle at the age of thirteen, a topic that I rarely touched on with anyone. Ask anyone, no one in that scenario desired it...but that was behind me now. I had worked hard to get here. I wouldn't let those sour thoughts spoil today; my first official day of freedom.

Next step? Figuring out how to get my suitcase and two boxes upstairs. Whilst most opt for the top floor, I viewed this as the first of many challenges I would face during this move in period. I wasn't about to start this new adventure complaining, this was one of the few vacancies, and I was going to take what I could get.

I took my suitcase and dragged it up the front stairs of the building, ran back down the stairs, then took my boxes up the stairs. I wheeled my suitcase outside the elevator, and then quickly ran back to get my two boxes. I caught my breath and put everything in the elevator, along with myself. I pushed the level four button, anxiously tapping my foot. Then the little ding went, and the doors opened to a hallway, with four doors. A little lax on the security, but maybe that was something to discuss with the landlord down the road - I didn't want to push any buttons too soon.

I wheeled my suitcase out, and grabbed my two boxes. I stood there examining the hallway, beige, boring and plain. Although it felt long and quite spacious, this wasn't where I was planning on spending my time.

Out of one of the doors walked a tall, thin guy with piercing black eyes. He was in a battle with his hair constantly falling in front of his eyes, and him pushing it back. I kept my head down, and moved out of the elevator entrance. I scrambled to find a piece of paper in my pocket with my room number on it.

"Moving in?" He asked.

"Yeah," I smiled.

"Then you're most likely in room 15, because 13 and 14 are occupied, and 16 is mine."

"Thanks," I smiled.

"Did you want some help with your stuff?" He gestured towards my boxes.

"That would be great, unless you're on your way to somewhere?" I asked.

"It can wait a few minutes." He answered with a grin. With ease, he lifted my two boxes up and hauled them over to my room. I couldn't help but notice how his black shirt, wrapped tightly around his arm muscles, putting them on display for me to fawn over. I couldn't believe I was already distracted by a guy. It had been literally less than 10 minutes of being here. I snapped out of it and grabbed my suitcase, and followed him to room 15.

"I believe you have the key," he laughed.

"The email said it would be under the doormat," I said and quickly looked under the mat. "Here it is. Low tech security around here, hey?"

"Not much going on around this neighbourhood," he paused. "And we all know each other well, I guess there has never been a need." He shrugged.

Friendly floor-mates? That could be a positive to starting in a new city with absolutely no one.
