Nathan's P.O.V

"I know you care about her," I turned to Gabe. That was up to Damien to walk out of here, and Dyllon's life. She would see who was there for her and who wasn't.

"I do," Gabe nodded. "However, I am not going to lock her up, against her will. Look Nathan, I want her to be safe as well, but this isn't the proper way to do it. She's been in an absolutely horrible place, she'll never go back to normal if normal is always being monitored or kept away, or having a reason to hide. I finally got her to agree to to go out for her birthday and that was a big enough stretch, I don't want her to feel like she has to go back to living in fear. Think about it Nathan, she has honestly lived the most fucked up time living here, why give her more things to hate about this place and us?"

"Going out for her birthday?" I snarled.

"Nathan, it's nothing personal. I think it's just a few people from her work and random friends. It's just her first step outside after all of this." Gabe replied.

I couldn't risk her being in such a public space.

"When?" I asked

"I don't know," Gabe said. "She might not even go out, it just depends on how she's feeling."

I knew when he was lying. If I wasn't going to get an invite, then I would make sure to be there when she would. There are only a few bars and clubs in this town, and knowing Gabe, I think I know which one they would go to. What would be the odds that I am at the same one?

"Well good for her trying to live and forget, but I feel like she should be cautious and she still needs protection. What if that is when the other vampire, Tyler, decides to strike? She's trying to forget too fast, she just needs to be safe."

"I'll be there," Gabe replied. Of course he would.

"She needs protection," I insisted. Protection that only a werewolf could provide.

"It's useless to argue about this," Gabe sighed. "We aren't going to come to an agreement on this, Nathan. We never do seem to agree on these things. We do have one thing in common, we both want her to stay safe, and we can both make sure that happens, but with distance."

"Distance?" I growled.

"She's not going to feel safe if we give her a reason to not feel safe," Gabe said. "Locking her away, monitoring her, that will make her feel like she has something to worry about. We do have to worry about what will happen next, but we can't make it obvious to her, it's not fair."

"You put her in this situation," I snarled. I wanted to snap his neck with how at ease he was being with the entire situation.

"You also have people who are willing to use her at their disposal," Gabe said. "Now, I have plans to attend to. Since Dyllon isn't your girlfriend anymore, I suggest leaving her alone for a little while."

Gabe left with a wide grin and shut the door behind him. She may not be my girlfriend right now, but I would make sure she wouldn't end up as Gabe's either.

I couldn't believe how relaxed both Damien and Gabe were about this situation, when she was easy bait for any one of our enemies right now. Space was the last thing I was going to give her.

Damien's P.O.V

In no world would I lock Dyllon up. If Nathan knew anything about her, he would know that was exactly the last thing she would want. I couldn't believe how idiotic he was being about the entire thing. I had to stay out of it, I promised myself I wouldn't get involved with her and their mess. I wouldn't get involved with Dyllon and her life. Even if I wanted to see her - be with her, I wouldn't.
