I knocked on his door, 4PM sharp. I heard him call from the other side, "Come in!"

I gently pushed open the door. "Almost ready?" I asked.

"Yeah, I'm just trying to find some last minute things," Nathan replied.

"Are you going there in your football outfit?" I asked.

"Ahaha, no. That would be an uncomfortable car ride, I change there." Nathan replied, and walked out of his bedroom with a massive duffle bag that surely I could fit inside of. "Ready?"

"Yeah," I nodded, and gave him a grin.

We walked out of his room, and went down the elevator and out back.

We approached a blue car in the lot, and like many of the vehicles it was sleek, and sparkled underneath the sun.

"Is your car new?" I asked.

"No, I just always take care of it, it's my baby." Nathan laughed.

I was just about to open the door, when Nathan came around and opened it for me before I could.

"Thanks," I blushed and he shut the door after me. My heart warmed at the small gesture of kindness.

Nathan threw his bag in the back, and got in.

"So, what brought you to this town?" Nathan said, reversing from his spot.

I repeated a shortened version of the story that I had on repeat over the last few days and then added on a little bit more as I was growing more comfortable with telling it.

"I was living with relatives before who weren't so great, so I wanted to try living on my own and then this place worked out great in terms of what I was looking for, so the pieces just fell together."

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear about your family. I am sure Matt hasn't made any of that better."

"No, it's been fine. I mean yes, I don't particularly enjoy his presence, and his yelling scares me a lot. I feel like he might just turn into some beast and kill me."

I noticed Nathan's face twitch, and then he let out a weird laugh.

"Sorry, I don't mean to insult your family," I said trying to make a quick recovery, instead of my unfiltered thoughts.

"Matt, just has a lot of pent up anger built up in him. I swear, he is nice, he's just on edge lately with you there. Give him some time, he will come around." Nathan said. "Unfortunately for you, he is at the building often, but I promise, I will do everything I can to ensure he stays in line."

"That's nice to know, that I make him angry." I smirked.

"I didn't mean it that way! I just meant; you triggered something in him! Like I said, he's family, I know him better than anyone, so I know he's just being a dick right now."

"Why doesn't he like females in the building?" I took my shot.

"Just some events in the past where we had females staying a few years ago, things got a little complicated with one of the guys and it just didn't end well. Bad break-up or something." Nathan said, but I knew there was a lot more to that story.

"Right," I nodded. "How old is Matthew? I mean, if he owns the four rooms, that's quite impressive."

"He's twenty-four," Nathan replied. "I wouldn't give him all the credit, he has had a lot of help from my parents on that one."

"Does he have a girlfriend or someone to keep him grounded?" I asked. Was someone willing to put up with his shit personality.

"Haha, no." Nathan replied. "Though, good recommendation, I will get searching for him."
