"What's the plan Ryder?" I snarled. "Cut the bullshit."
"What do you mean?" Ryder asked, advancing up the stairs.
"I heard you two," I spat. "A plan that goes against your principles? Turning me into one of them? Turning me into what?"
"It's not happening," Ryder said, he continued to avert his eyes. "So no use in talking about something that isn't going to happen."
"I didn't at any point hear that it wasn't," I yelled.
"Well this time, it's just none of your business," Ryder said, clearly frustrated and then advanced to his room, shutting the door behind him.
I wasn't going to let him dodge my questions and avoid me. I swung open his door and found him propped against his pillow, his hands tangled into his hair. His face was distressed, and I hadn't seen him look so beaten down – ever.
"I want to know," I said. "What the hell was the plan?"
"I am not going to hurt you, I can't." He tangled his hands further into his hair, letting out a big sigh.
"What was the plan?" I said sternly.
"You honestly don't want to know," Ryder shook his head. "I am infuriated right now, and I can only imagine you would be too. I just need time to think. I promise you, I am not letting it happen, and it won't happen."
"What the fuck was the plan?" I yelled.
Ryder stayed silent, and he wouldn't look me in the eyes. My stomach was churning, and I could feel my chest tightening.
"What was the plan, Ryder?" I repeated. There was a long pause, and a big sigh from Ryder.
"Wesley wanted to threaten having you turned into a vampire as collateral against Nathan," Ryder put down his head. "Are you happy?"
"You're going to look me in the face, and pretend you didn't know that was the plan?" I roared.
I felt the vomit rise in my throat. I couldn't be in the same room with him - I was repulsed.
I followed my instinct to run – run anywhere but where Ryder was. They advocated for not harming humans, and yet that was their first tactic? I made it towards the forest, and stopped by a tree to hurl out all my insides. I kept trying to go, but I felt dis-oriented by the news that I had just received.
They wanted to trade my life, to vampires, like it was nothing, nothing at all. How foolish I had been thinking that they weren't capable of something so sinister. How moronic I had been to fall for Ryder's stories, and believe that they had good intentions through all of this.
From behind a few trees, a werewolf advanced, his teeth barred at me and I could tell he was ready to pounce. I instantly picked up speed, and tried to traverse through the forest, before my body was sent flying back across the ground. I instantly screamed in agony, as I landed on my back, and the pain jolted through my body. The werewolf had me pinned down, his teeth inches away from my face.
"Get away from her!" Ryder called in the distance.
The werewolf immediately retreated, and Ryder kneeled down beside me, taking my head into his hands, and resting it on one of his knees.
"Are you okay?" He asked, pushing back my hair. "I told you this wasn't my idea. I had absolutely no clue. Cayden and Wesley had a lapse of judgment and became beyond desperate. I promise."
"You're lying," I spat out.
"I would take you home right now," Ryder paused. "If I wasn't afraid that Wesley would act on his own."
