Dyllons P.O.V
"You look beautiful," Ryder purred, as I approached him leaning against his car. I rolled my eyes at his comment, but I would be lying if I said I hadn't tried on the entirety of my wardrobe this afternoon, trying to find something that I thought he would like. I laughed now, looking at him in a pair of dark jeans, and a t-shirt, but even in that, he somehow managed to look immaculate.
"Aren't you cold?" I asked, gesturing towards his lack of coverage.
"Werewolf, remember? We run on the hotter side." He grinned.
At that I wondered where Demons were on the scale of hot to cold, and instantly felt the guilt creep up, knowing that I had lied to Damien today. I had given him the pathetic excuse of having a migraine, and the look on his face when he had come to pick me up was nothing less than devastating. It played on loop all afternoon every time I thought about going out with Ryder. Damien had been nothing less than a gentleman over the past few days, even weeks... and a part of me felt like I was betraying him. Maybe because I knew at the end of the day, there was no world where Ryder and Damien existed together, due to Ryder's views on demons and vampires. And I had been denying the pull I felt towards Damien from time to time, but I knew he viewed me like a little sister at this point, so I had been in a habit of shoving down anything that crept up when I was with him.
"Earth to Dyllon, everything okay?" Ryder asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Mhmm," I nodded. "So, where are we going?"
"You'll see."

We pulled up to the familiar cottage in the woods. The place that I had stayed a month with Ryder, and instantly the memories consumed me, from the start to the untimely finish.
"This is...unexpected." I said.
"I thought you'd appreciate a bit of privacy." Ryder shrugged. "And after you got past the whole kidnapping spiel, you did seem quite comfortable here."
Because if we went out anywhere in public, there was always a risk of running into someone. Every time I wanted to fault him, he some how continued to be more thoughtful than anyone had ever been.
"Have you been staying here?" I asked, as I opened the car door, and starred back at the property in a new light. It was oddly comforting to find myself back here, and a part of me wished that I could live here instead.
"No," Ryder shook his head. "Ever since Nathan found the location, I've left it empty, which is a shame. I love this place, but it feels like an easy target if Nathan ever decides he'd like to actively hunt me down."
"I miss it," I sheepishly said, and I noticed the small smile that Ryder tried to contain.
"What specifically?" He grinned, edging in closer, and I could tell he was going to try and bait me again.
"The peace and quiet," I quipped, and he instantly retreated and advanced towards unlocking the door.
"I'll let you think that," Ryder said. "But I think we both know there's something else you miss."
"Arrogant," I scoffed.
"Truthful," he retorted.
"So where are you staying now?" I asked.
"That unfortunately is information I cannot disclose."
"Oh, right." I nodded. "Sorry."
I guess Ryder still didn't completely trust me, which was understandable. I lived under his enemies roof. I hated to admit it, but it felt like that reinforced the state of our relationship...and that this really was just a way for Ryder to pass the time. I wasn't someone he could trust with his secrets, or his true thoughts, and that constant dynamic between was a fucking bummer.
