Laurent woke up still feeling lost and heartbroken from yesterday's conversation with his parents. But he doesn't feel as tense as he did last night before he fell asleep.
He knew he dreamt of the white wolf and the pups, what he didn't realize was as he slept dreaming, Beast prayed to the Moon Goddess to bring their mate to them.
After a long hot shower Laurent decided to walk around the packhouse, hoping for just a spark of happiness. Unfortunately the more he walked throughout the packhouse, the more his anger began to flare up again.
He hated being called Alpha that was his father's title and when ever some one called him Alpha he'd growled towards them. (Don't get him wrong he didn't actually hate being called Alpha, just how his pack members acted when they called him Alpha. That's what he hated) Laurent could tell that today was not going to be a good day so he chose to go for a run, he just truly wanted to be so exhausted and numb enough to not feel the pain of being mateless yet another year.
Instead of shifting immediately, Laurent chose to walk throughout the forest. He rarely walks in his human form and take in the beauty that is the forest, he only ever seen it from the eyes of his wolf. Besides he wasn't worried about hunters or rogues, there hasn't been report's lately of rogue or hunter attacks.
Laurent watched as butterflies flapped by his head, bunnies ran by his feet and bear cubs hiding in holes poking just their snouts out. The scenery has calmed his tense muscles and his raging heartache enough to enjoy the peaceful sounds around him.
It had a sort of tranquilness to it. Even his wolf started feeling relaxed. 'Maybe we should live in the forest'. Beast said, kinda jokingly but also seriously too. "Why not we have always found the forest more peaceful than any other place including the packhouse". Laurent answered truthfully.
Laurent hadn't noticed he had zoned out as he was walking until the cracking of twigs brought him out of his fog. Slightly startled he quickly looked around the dense forest using Beast's eyes. Neither Beast nor Laurent could find what made the noise, and after arguing with his wolf they chose to sit at the stream and relax a little but still staying alert.
After a few hours of just lounging around Laurent shifted to let his wolf enjoy the forest before heading back into the packhouse to celebrate yet another mateless birthday party. Now, it's like Laurent doesn't like his birthdays, no its not that, it's just he hates how the surrounding packs try to force their daughters on him, hoping Laurent would pick them as a mate.
There is no secret that his father has tried everything to get him to just take any she-wolf as a mate, but up until last night, it was never an Alpha's orders. Because of this he knew the reason why the Alpha's, Beta's and even the high ranking warriors would try to shove their daughters down his throat.
With every unpleasant thought Laurent shifted into his midnight black wolf. Beast was huge much larger that his father's wolf and even larger that the other Alpha's from the surrounding packs.
Laurent was proud of Beasts size and color, at night he is almost unnoticeable except for the white heart shaped patch of fur on his right shoulder. Once fully shifted Beast ran at lightening speed zipping throughout the forset enjoying the chase of nothingness and freedom.
Until a mouth watering scent caused Beast to come to an abrupt stop at the end of the forest. The smell warmed his chest and caused his heart to beat erratically.
'Mate' Beast growled happily.
"Are you sure?" Laurent whispered quietly, not wanting to get his hopes up. He has to admit the intoxicating smell was causing his groins to tingling and grow with anticipation.
'Yes I'm sure.' Beast grunted out.
"Okay, okay no need to bite my head off, I was just asking, we haven't found her yet and I'm a little nervous." Laurent said holding up his hands in a surrendering motion. He doesn't want Beast and him to fight about this. Especially not now, not about this they have waited way to long.
Beast walked towards the smell hoping to find the wolf who owned the intoxicating scent. As he walked images of the only dream they ever had started flooding in their mind. They knew their mate was a white wolf, but every time the wolf shifted into it's human counterpart the image was blurry, thats why Laurent had yet to find her they never had a clear image of her except her being a white wolf.
Hearing footsteps Beast stopped and his ears pricked up trying to find the direction the footsteps are coming from. As the footsteps got closer Beast realized they were more than three people and they were coming from the packhouse. Feeling frustrated Beast growled angrily towards the forest stopping abruptly when he spotted a gorgeous caramel colored skinned man shifting into a white wolf.
'Mate' Beast growled out.
The white wolf shifted towards Beast and nodded before taking off out past the forest. Before Beast can chase after him the warriors (he's sure his mother sent looking for him) showed up informing him it is time to return to the packhouse for his party.
Beast let out a frustrating growl before shifting back into Laurent and walking back to the packhouse.
"That can't be right, right?" Laurent asked Beast. "I dreamt of a white wolf, but not a man." "And the black heart shape on his left shoulder, this is the first time I've seen it."
'I seen it too.' 'He is our mate.' 'I can't wait to get him.' Beast smiled answering Laurent's thoughts.
"Well that explains why we never found her, she is a he." Laurent said happily 😊 "We will find him after my birthday party". Laurent said before closing the link with Beast.
