Laurent's POV:
My family was ecstatic that I am getting married especially my mother. Larry explained to us that as far as he knew he had no family left after all the attacks on the white wolves.
It broke my heart to know on my mates side of the aisle there will be empty chairs. My grandparents offered to sit front row on his side.
Larry excepted and began tearing up at their heartwarming offer. As we sat down and went through every detail about our up coming wedding I learned a lot about Larry and about his toughness being left behind after the white wolves were either slaughtered or captured and imprisoned.
The more I learned about Larry I knew he was a tough yet gentle wolf whom chose to not hurt anyone unless it was absolutely necessary. His heart is as pure as the first snow fall of winter.
I couldn't be more proud to have him as my mate. Beast was enthralled with Blaze and his bravery. It's been two weeks since we sent out our invitations to our wedding and our guest list has been completed.
Unfortunately we had to invite the Elders which I learned from Larry that he hated the Elders with every fiber in his being and I had to agree with that hated. Neither the Elders nor the Supernatural Council really do anything for any creature except making up rules that they expect everyone to follow except them, themselves.
But tradition says we have to invite them or they won't except our marriage. Usually I wouldn't follow the rules of those whom act as though because they are in a higher position they are better than others of lower positions but my grandfather reminded me of the necessity of tradition.
I just pray to the Moon Goddess that the idiots do not demand to much. After all it is Larry and I's wedding not theirs. I refuse to allow them to sit in the same platform of those of my family or in a throne chair (which most Elders expect) while they sit and dictate everyone and everything.
The only real reason they are even in their positions was because they got voted in after the great war almost one hundred years ago. Since then the families of those Elders are instantly entrusted with the position.
Sounds all political like what those humans do to keep certain people in higher positions even if they are not qualified to hold that position.
Anyways...
As we sat at the table to finalize the details of our wedding which is in two weeks. I was mind-linked that someone was at the gate wanting to see and speak to Larry.
Whom ever it is at the gate has masked his smell making him smell like a simple human. And most any wolf would believe that but unfortunately for this wolf and hybrid I can smell his wolf which is extremely powerful.
I told Larry that someone was at the gate wanting to see him. At first he was a little anxious but quickly calmed down after sniffing the air. His eyes grew larger than saucers in shock.
Curious of who it was I walked out the packhouse hand in hand with Larry. Beast started getting agitated wanting to shift to protect our mate from this person who is here to see Larry. I think Beast is still on edge after Larry's capture.
The guy was huge and intimidating. But I ignored his stare and stood beside Larry and watched as the two exchanged words. Some were heated others left both Larry and I dumbfounded.
From what I gathered from their conversation the guy's name is Max and is apparently the one who set Larry free and left him at the packhouse gate.
What I couldn't understand was that this Max guy claimed to be Larry's cousin. Larry seemed confused of this guy's confession about being family until he unmasked his scent.
Larry shocked face was comical and I would have laughed about it, but it wasn't the right moment to do so.
'Laurent can we go inside so we can talk please?' Larry's soft voice brought me out of my own confused state. Unable to reply I just nodded my head and we walked back inside the packhouse heading up to my office with Max following behind us.
Once inside the office Max began to explain why he wasn't around and also how he knew where Larry was.
'I do not trust him'. Beast gritted out. I nodded inside my head agreeing with him. Everything is just happening to fast. If he is Larry's cousin how could he just leave Larry naked and by the packhouse gate without letting someone know he was out there.
Plus how come after almost two months since Larry had been returned he just barely showed up now two weeks before our wedding?
Something is definitely fishy here. I mind-linked my grandfather and told him what was going on. I also mind-linked Larry through out mate link and told him I did not trust this wolf.
To my surprise Larry agreed with me. He said even though the guy seems familiar in a way he does not remember having a cousin named Max or any hybrid family members in his bloodline.
The hybrid thing is what's bothering me more than him just claiming he is Larry's cousin. Hybrids are very rare and unpredictable. Most of the other packs forbid wolves to mate with other supernatural creatures even if they are mates to prevent from creating hybrids.
Most everyone thinks that hybrids are more powerful than just regular creatures. Of course nothing has ever been proven because the Elders recruited hybrids as guards.
Still something about this hybrid is wrong. I have smelt his scent before but I just can not figure out where.
"Larry we need to finish up this conversation so we can finish our wedding information." I told Larry loud enough for his "cousin" to hear me.
I really do not want to continue this conversation anymore and feeling the anxiety rolling off Larry, tells me neither does he.
