Era's POV
"Enjoy your days of freedom while you're in-laws are away." Chuckled my mother as I had called her.
My parents lived in another city but I made a point to call them regularly whenever I would get some spare time. I had not yet discussed anything about divorce papers. Inside my heart, I was secretly hoping for Deep to say that " drafting the divorce papers was a random mistake" or "he loves me and would never leave me alone."
Wait a minute, who was I kidding? How could he love me? I never had a single moment of affection from him. Unless when he wanted physical intimacy. How could he love me if he didn't even care what I did with my life? I followed his instructions like a robot. And what did I get in return?
Okay, so what if he leaves me? Should I go and live in the old house? Or with my parents? Thousands of thoughts played seesaw in my head.
Deep was still busy avoiding my calls and texts. The only text I had received was "Era, I am sorry but I am still busy with some commitments. Don't worry about me. Will be home tomorrow maybe. Please don't call or text me I am busy." I decided to divert my mind.
Even though I had freaked out the previous day, I decided to face my fears and once again go to the Bungalow. I had to meet that blue-eyed stranger and know his identity. He seemed to be familiar but I can't put my finger on where I had seen him last.
I ate my lunch and finished the other chores. Then, like a timid little girl, I took the auto and chanted God's name throughout the way.
I carried a bunch of candles because the horror movies showed how a ghost would attack its unsuspecting victim during power cuts.
I had called the electrician a dozen times and he assured me that the wiring was stable and he would come in the evening to check. Yet I was unsatisfied.
As I paid the fare to the rickshaw driver, I spotted the sapphire ring in the purse. Without thinking, I wore it. Call me suspicious but I have always felt that it was lucky for me. I wore it during exams and even managed to slip it on the date of my marriage.
Okay, okay... no thoughts about marriage. I had come to this place to divert my mind.
I took a few deep breaths and prayed to God. To save me from the evil. Though that stranger looked like kind of a person whom you would spill your secrets during a coffee date.
I remembered how I first meet Deep in the cafe. It was our first meeting. What the hell! Wait! I wasn't supposed to think about Deep and my freaking marriage!
Okay, focus Era, focus. Ya, so where was I?
I entered the home and went to the second and third floors to finish mopping. Everything happened uneventfully but since I was so busy, my mind stayed diverted.
Finally, I was free at noontime. I decided to go to my favourite place. Yes, the swing in the garden.
I was swinging in the garden, with earphones and my favourite songs from childhood. The images of this mansion flashed before my eyes. I wondered what should I name the mansion? Since I was the owner, I decided to think of the possible names this mansion can possess.
It was after an hour when I woke up. With the sunlight kissing my cheeks, I couldn't help but hear the faint music again. Despite my sleepy state, I was freaked out.
Suddenly I turned around to find the same mystery guy standing next to me. This time with a grin on his face.
"Wh... Who are you? Why are you here in my home?" I almost stammered with fear. Was he a ghost? How the hell did he end up coming to my backyard all of the sudden.
His eyes scrutinized me and again stared at the ring. And then into my eyes.
"Trust me, dear, I should be asking you the same question." he smiled gently.
This time came closer all of a sudden, he drew out a rose from his hoodie and put it on my braid.
"You will know everything. I guess it's time you know the truth," he whispered.
Suddenly I lost my consciousness. As if the sleep had evaded me. My mind, despite all the pain and sorrow of impending divorce, felt unusually calm and light. My eyes decided to sleep against my wish.
Suddenly I felt my throat be kissed. I looked at my dress. I was wearing some kind of red silk gown with a sweet line neckline. My emerald ring was on. Beside me, stood the handsome stranger, lifting me in a bridal style.
I felt him dropping me gently on the swing and unzipping my silk grown from behind. My throat came into the contact with his lips and I moaned with ecstasy. He grabbed my waist and attacked my shoulders with his kisses while I desperately tried to hold my dress from falling.
Suddenly he pushed the swing and saw me awestruck by the sudden oscillation.
"Trust me, dear, I will make you fly." he chuckled into my puzzled eyes, amused by my desperation of clinging the slippery rich red fabric together.
Suddenly my eyes opened and I stared at the white ceiling. I glanced at the wall clock, only to realise that I was at my home, (instead of the mansion) and laid on the bed with the phone beside me. It was 2 pm night.
So? Was my visit to the mansion a mere dream? Or reality? Did I fall asleep while talking to my mum? But why did my throat feel so wet, as if kissed? Or was it just sweat? However, I was feeling so sleepy that I decided to address the issue the next morning.
