Era's POV
"Era please be quick!" said Neel as he tapped his feet out of impatience.
He was standing near my cubical, in the empty office while I was slogging my mind, trying to figure out how to work with the editing software.
You see, Satya sir wanted me to be a part of the Fiction publishing team but since there wasn't any vacancy, he asked me to intern with Mihir and the others. I was supposed to compile, report and then edit the news of the city.
Now the primary problem was that unlike the other internal, I didn't know any folks here or places here. I also had no idea about the venue of the places. To add to my misery, I didn't know how to cycle. So I had to walk to different places and talk to newer people and make acquaintances. Then motivate them to spill the beans. I had to work extra hard because I was unaware of the functioning of the software. And I was too shy to ask for repeated help. Though my workspace had friendly people, they always minded their own business. It was endearing.
There was nothing called "breaking news" or "juicy gossips." here. There was no existence of "celebrity gossips". People knew their folks and the gossips that existed within the walls of their homes. News reporting was simple and sweet. Only important news very given in-depth coverage.
Anyways, the software pitied my frantic attempts and I was able to finish my final editing.
Neel heaved a sigh of relief. As a part of my voluntary profession, I joined Neel's office for a month as a junior event manager. Just like the other 15 junior event managers, I was under the leadership of Neel.
"Okay, here is the pen and paper. Let's brainstorm the ideas!" I was tired but excited to help host my first public event.
"Okay. I suggest we all meet, greet, have a proper dinner. Okay?" he said.
"And?" and what?
"What about the music? Or dancing or Drama?" I asked. Karaoke sounded like a good idea.
"Whats music? What is dancing? And what is drama?" he was clueless.
I was stupefied. What the hell? A perfect world like this had no music?
"You don't know what's music?" I asked him.
"Yes. It's the sound of buzzers or buttons or alarms." he said.
"Did your elders, who belonged to the outer world tell you anything about the music or dance or drama?" I asked him.
"Look, people over here mostly belong to the field of science, commerce or law. Our elders never gave priority to the arts. We study in the school about forms of music or dance but never taught practically." he confessed.
And then I was reminded of the words of Major Karanveer sir. That my talents were not necessary in this world! Of course, I was a trained dancer and a singer! Moreover, I used to organize dramas in my school and college! No wonder they didn't find me worthy of the place.
But what's life without art? I was sure they didn't know about painting too!
"Lets add something new to the events this time!" I smiled as I talked to Neel.
He seemed confused.
