Era's POV
"You girls don't have hair growth?" That was so great!
"Well, that's why we don't wax. Don't worry, soon you will notice the cessation in the growth of hair on the other parts of body (obviously other than the scalp). I can already notice your eyes getting lighter. Soon it will be blue." she smiled as she combed my stubborn wavy hair that refused to be straightened.
"But you badly need to wax for now." she looked at me.
"That's not an issue. I have the razor." I opened my makeup pouch and showed her. She just smiled and started checking out the dresses in my small wardrobe.
"Well, and do you call it a makeup box girl? you hardly have a lipstick, powder and a eye liner." she said with a shock as she opened my makeup pouch to examine its contents. However she went back to my wardrobe.
"Don't you have anything in blue?" she asked me.
"Well, I was coming to that part. Is it compulsory to wear blue?" I asked her.
"No. No rulebook says that its compulsory. But the people here kind of avoid wearing anything other than blue. They mix and match with the shades of white but nothing more than that. If you want, you can wear any other color but people will definitely look at you." She said.
However I never possessed that kind of confidence to be able to wear different and confidently manage the stares. Some of my classmates were rebels but I was always the one to go with the flow.
"I admit that its glamourous to be the most different one in the room, but for now, I need to gel with the system here." I said.
"I know. Besides, everyone in the town know about you and I am sure they would be curious to know about you. Its the first time in the history of our world that someone is allowed to live on the trial basis. People would be interested. They might even judge you. Do not get intimidated. If someone bothers you, you can directly tell them and they wont bother you. Besides, you have us." She smiled looking at me.
I heard the knock. It was aunt Mesha, my neighbor. After exchanging a few cups of coffee, family history and hobbies, we both were friends in no time.
"I think someone needs this." She said as soon as she entered the house. She unzipped a huge package. It had a blue floor length dress with a white colored blazer. It looked stylish and yet classy and elegant.
"Whoa what is this?" I asked her.
"Twenty years back I had worn it on my engagement party with your uncle. You can borrow it tonight. I insist." She said. She was staying back with uncle John for the movie night.
"Thank you!" I said as I hugged her. People over here were no-nonsense and yet friendly most of the times.
Soon, me and Nisha got ready in no time. Nisha looked like a tomboy she was in a knee length dress and short hair. Somehow the whole look suited her better than anyone else.
"You know Nisha, Mihir would be glad to see you." I tried to brooch the topic. For some reason, I and Neel felt that both had some sort of weird chemistry. But none of them were too eager to speak up. Which was shocking since both of them were confident personalities, having almost an established career in future. Their families were friends too.
"Ya and we all will then try the new mocha drink that my mum is going to bring for us today." she said absent mindedly as she fixed her earrings.
We both decided to walk because my dress didn't give me any chance to sit on the cycle. And Nisha wasn't comfortable with me sitting on one side of the cycle.
We both stepped out on porch while I tried to lock my flat (it was on the ground floor). I turned around to witness Neel staring me with an inexplicable look in his eyes.
"You look beautiful." he said as he gave me his shy smile. Many a times I thought how great it would have been if Deep would have given me the look of same respect, the same adoration and supported me.
"Come, sit behind me." he said as he unlocked the cycle.
"Actually, I will be uncomfortable. I will walk. Its okay if you want to cycle." I said. To be frank, I wanted to walk. These days I had started loving the long walks I took. The sky was beautiful, the breeze was lovely and the stars had taken their respective seats in the sky. Why not to walk and adore them all the way.
"Okay, I will walk." said Neel.
"Me too." said Nisha as she hopped down from the cycle.
"Me three" said Mihir as he locked his cycle.
And my dream of a solo star-watching activity shattered.
We three walked and Nisha and Mihir animatedly discussed about my game. They loved it. Neel stated how curious he was to see people's reaction. However, the sky possessed my attention.
"Guys, aren't we too early?" I asked.
"Yes. But I am the event head. So I need to reach early." said Neel, who was already trying to walk in the faster pace as we were not cycling and had to reach early.
"Guys, guys, guys! I want your undivided attention for five minutes. Please." I looked at three of them. They stopped at their tracks, wondering what happened to me.
There was an open park in front of us. With a bench. Enough to accommodate four of us.
"Lets sit and watch the stars. For five minutes. With silence." I instructed and they reluctantly followed me.
We all saw the stars. I could see their gazes shifting from my face to the stars. The sky was beautiful with the full moon. Suddenly, the whole light up city with the bluish buildings looked as a part of full landscape of white stars and dark night. Everything looked magical.
As few minutes passed, I looked down. Three of them were gazing the sky. It was so sweet of them to obey my wish.
"Lets go." I whispered.
"Lets" Mihir smiled as we all got up and walked towards our way. The beautiful start of our night meant that my night was going to be very memorable. I could feel it. Though the instinct was not considered an important part of the world, mine never left me. It said that my life was about to change. In a musical, fairy-tale kind of way.
