Era's POV

"Are we ready?" I asked Neel as he excitedly pointed out that I needed to kickstart the event. I pressed the" play" button of the music system, and the atmosphere felt raw... As if with the new wave of eccentric electricity

The people had started arriving, and we started giving them the shoes. Initially, they were confused. They weren't used to simply skating on the ice. They had just one game. That was ice hockey. But what about carelessly and purposelessly leisurely on the frozen river, enjoying the music, laughing with friends ad family and most importantly, enjoying nature?

We had surrounded the river with loads of lights on its perimeter. The river gleamed like an emerald stone in the midst of the white crests (mountains). Not to mention that people had a dress code of white. Which again meant the river had shades of red, white and green and purple colour (thanks to the neon coloured laces of the shoes).

The rules were simple. People had to either grab the hands of their partners or skate alone to the tunes of the music. I had kept a peppy dance number. It was "Levitating" by Dua Lipa.

If you wanna run away with me, I know a galaxy
And I can take you for a ride
I had a premonition that we fell into a rhythm
Where the music doesn't stop for life.

Amid the feet tapping music, I could gradually hear the liberated laughter and squeals of delight as people skated with their friends and family. I could see people initially hesitant to follow the "silly rules" and then later enjoying dancing to the tune of music.

Glitter in the sky, glitter in my eyes
Shining just the way I like
If you're feeling like you need a little bit of company
You met me at the perfect time

I looked at the pitch-black sky and countless stars gazing at our party while the frozen ocean became green with envy.

Like I had anticipated earlier, people had started inventing their moves. Some swirled while some made swift circles on ice with the tune of music.

"Ummmm, there is a minor problem," said Mihir, who was suddenly out from the ice rink.

"Yes?"  I wonder how could problems come in my flawless arrangement.

"More and more people are participating in the rink. The rink is getting crowded. We need to do something before it gets overpopulated and people start getting banging against each other." he said.

I looked around for the signs of Neel. Usually, he was the person who would make announcements or take decisions.

"Where is Neel?" I asked Mihir.

"He has gone to meet Vikram at the height of the mountain. Please don't wait for him. It would take him at least 20 minutes to come back!" said Mihir.

Two of the volunteers rushed to me with the same problem. Now I had to take the thing in my hands.

"Hello, everyone!" I shouted through the microphone. Got a slow response.

Damn, why can't I be as confident as Neel? I had to rescue the event.

"Excuse me! Hello everyone!" I again repeated.

I suddenly felt everyone's gazes in between the high decibel song. I felt heat on my cheeks.

"I understand that almost all of us have reached the venue! I am glad that everyone is following the rules. However, the actual game starts now. I request everyone to vacate the rink now." I said. This time politely but firmly. This was the second time I was taking things in my hand.

"I repeat, please vacate the rink. "

Soon the people stood in borders of the river, looking at me curiously. Some sat on the chairs, waiting for my further instructions.

"As a part of the event, I request the kids and teenagers from 5- 25 to come to the rink. They will get uninterrupted 20 minutes to show their moves." I had to prevent myself from saying "dance" because I wondered if they all knew the meaning of it.

You can fly away with me tonight
You can fly away with me tonight
Baby, let me take you for a ride
Yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah
I'm levitating (woo)
You can fly away with me tonight
You can fly away with me tonight
Baby, let me take you for a ride
Yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah (woo)

"I request the rest of you to witness their moves and use this precious time to mingle with your near and dear ones," I announced, and soon the rink was filled with innovative dancers. Some merely skated while the others moved their body to the song's beats. The onlookers cheered and discussed the skills of performers, while some mingled with their friends and colleagues.

And then a beautiful accident happened. I was singing the songs, and the mike was one. Of course, I didn't know it. But then people too started singing the lyrics! It was like a mass movement!

I got you, moonlight, you're my starlight (you are my starlight)
I need you all night, come on, dance with me (come on, dance with me)
I'm levitating
You, moonlight, you're my starlight (you're the moonlight)
I need you all night, come on, dance with me
I'm levitating

I never knew that I could take charge of a situation. Even though it might seem a small step, it was a significant ego-booster to handle such a vast number of people!
