Heya everyone. I am sorry for being gone for so long. But trust me, it was a medical emergency. I am going through the toughest phase of my life. Writing soothes my soul but the worries prevent me to come up with anything new. I hope you all will forgive me. I wish to finish this book as early as possible.
Thank you all for being so understanding.

Era's POV

I was overwhelmed by the cheers and support I had received from the crowd. Earlier I was scared of losing the citizenship of this beautiful land. Now I was confident that whatever happens, I would be fine. Being here or not, I would be able to reach newer heights. I would be able to secure a job or find someone no matter wherever I go. However, I found their behaviour of Neel very unusual. I expected him to stand by me, hold my hand and help me find the way out of the storm. And here I was, navigating the strenuous path of proving myself and my life choices. Proving the usefulness of my being.

I was happy with myself. I thrived under pressure and the whole trial brought a fresh lease of confidence to my soul. I slumped into the nearby chair due to mental exhaustionn, unafraid of what others would think of me.

"The dancers are asking when to carry out their flash mob dance." asked one of the volunteer. Yeah I remembered. The carnival was still on. The show must go on.

I used my walkie-talkie to awaken the code Purple. And everything happened within a flash of seconds.

At first, the crowd didn't notice the sudden change in music. However as one person started dancing in front of the stage, another joined and slowly, a group of around 50 people started dancing. It started from a slow bhangra song to a full-fledged high-beat disco song. I joined the last song, taking the lead while the council members emerged out of their spots, amused seeing the whole performance enamoured by the excited crowd.

I almost closed my eyes, tears pouring from my eyes. Those were the tears of happiness. Those were the tears of liberation. I was a free woman right now. Free of judgement, free of prejudice and free of past trauma. Even if the city rejects me, I had gathered tons of confidence and memories, enough to fuel me for a lifetime.

The dance ended with the moonwalk and the whole crowd shouted at the top of their lungs. The carnival was a roaring success. I was fulfilled.

We all then heard the sound of a microphone, held by Aisha bestowing me with a mysterious smile. Neel was nowhere around. The team of the council stood behind Aisha.

"With the end of the beautiful performance, it's time we announce the verdict." she said.

There was pin-drop silence as the crowd was eager to wait for the verdict.

Now I didn't care about the verdict.

If they rejected me, it would be their loss. I was precious. And now, I knew it.
