Era's POV

Neel took a sip of his mocktail and took a deep breath.

"This place, as I told you earlier is called Cerulean. Which means "blue". Are you familiar with the theory of mirror world?" he asked me.

"Ummm sorry I don't know," I confessed sheepishly.

"Haven't you seen the Doctor Strange movie? " he asked. I declined.

"Our universe isn't the only universe out there. There are so many universes apart from that. Even Stephen Hawkings advocates the same theory." he said.

I leaned towards him, he had all my attention.

"So I mean to say that every city has its mirror city. Like our city to has a mirror world, hidden from the world. For some reason, its portal opens in front of the storeroom of your uncle's mansion." he explained.  I tried to digest the information.

"This place was discovered by my great-great-grandfather Nilay Vora, about 200 years ago. This place is beneath the mine of sapphire that is priceless. Instead of telling the world about it or gaining riches, he decided that this serene land must not be disturbed. Due to the presence of Sapphire stones, the place has a very peaceful and calming aura. However, he started feeling lonely."  Neel fished out his wallet and showed me the photo of his great-great-grandfather.

The person who looked identical to Neel, albeit with a proud moustache stared at me.

"He started collecting the people from this town who were the best in their fields. Like the most experienced doctor or the best lawyer or engineers and so on. People started faking their death and living here for their further life and better retirement lifestyle." he spoke up.

"We had women who were best in their respective fields. Everyone belonged to the town. We started introducing people in their late 20s or 30s. We would send them the invitations. If they wished, they can fake their death or disappear and live here forever. If not, we would erase their memory." he spoke up and I shivered at the last part. Does it mean that they would erase my memory? Because I was the intruder.

"People over here can marry anyone here and their kids are automatically part of our town," he said pointing out to the random kid.

"My great-great-grandfather constructed this house and made sure to conceal this place with an inconspicuous storeroom. This place was owned by my grandfather and me. However, the land beneath this place turned out to be illegal and we had to submit the property to the government. The building was demolished." he spoke up.

"A few decades later, your young uncle purchased it as soon as it again became available from the government. He did it before my father could. He was so impressed by the design of the earlier house, that he made the same model of this place."Neel smiled proudly.

That explained why this place belonged to my uncle.

"We invited your uncle to this land, as he was the most well-known media journalist in the country. However, he wanted to lead a normal life. That's why he shifted to a bugger city to seek better assignments. Before we could erase his memory, he requested us to consider you for the citizenship of this place. He believed that you weren't happy with the marriage and we're too proud to complain." finished Neel.

I handed him the cocktail and be took the last sip.

"Is that the reason why you allowed me into this place?" I asked.

"No. And yes. I mean, we all respected your uncle and considered his proposal. But there were other factors too. Though I cannot guarantee you citizenship to this place. You are not an accomplished professional or entrepreneur in any field. It would be tough to get you in. Our place is run with democracy. No matter how friendly the folks are, they all would demand an explanation as to why should we induct you." he said.

Suddenly I started getting messages from Deep. I switched off the phone. I still had hundreds of questions. But I wanted to ask the most important one.

"Why are you so interested in inducting me?" I asked.

Neel was shocked. A blush crept to his face. He leaned back as I leaned forward. My body language was automatically desperate to find the answer.

"Well... That's another story. An old story." he looked at his bartender friend who signalled him to run away.
