Eun-jae's pov

It's been about three months since I moved into this house and at first, it was hard adjusting to the place. I wasn't used to living on my own, especially since I just lost both of my parents. The accident had happened in early March, two weeks after that was when I moved here. I felt lonelier than before, even though my brother's had started calling me to check on me. They called occasionally and usually when all three of them were together. In all honesty, this house was extremely big for one person so there were nights where I would close all the curtains and lock everything tightly, because I would get super paranoid about someone breaking in. Hyunjin, Felix and Han always were stopping by to check in on me to make sure I was alright. They would even stay over on the weekends and the four of us would just spend time talking, playing games, eating and just having fun with one another. There were nights where I would be so overwhelmed with grief that I would end up calling Felix, so he would come and spend the night to calm me down. I soon became occupied with my dancing and song writing, so when school came around, I jumped at the opportunity to join the dance club. I couldn't believe how much had changed over the next few months of living here, I had made new friends and my classes weren't as stressful as before. To be honest, I was nervous as for the new things that were coming in my life. And even though I hated my Uncle, he always called every few days to check up on me. I don't know why he suddenly changed his behavior with how he treated me but I liked the fact that he at least tried to get along with me. There were nights where the two of us would talk about various subjects, other times he would be giving me advice.

After a few failed attempts at finding a place to work near the school, I had managed to get a part time job at a small cafe, which was really cute. The cafe was a place made for both humans and hybrids to eat and mingle, which is what I loved about that place. There were hardly any conflicts at the cafe, especially because the place was so popular among hybrids and humans alike. I had even managed to become friends with a few hybrids who worked with me at the cafe, and some who were customers. Everyone was so nice here in the cafe, which was the one place I really enjoyed the working atmosphere. There were times it would get so busy, that I would become a bit nervous with all the people there. But lucky for me, I had some really good friends who took very good care of me, especially after learning that I had recently lost my parents.

"Hey guys, don't forget to close up early tonight." My manager, Taeho, said as he swung the keys on key ring around his finger.

"Don't worry, boss. Everything will be locked up at 8:30 pm sharp." Baekhyun popped the 'P' in sharp, making me chuckle a bit and shake my head. He was one of the hybrids I became best friends with that worked here and went to school with. Taeho chuckled to himself, shaking his head at Baekhyun's answer. "Alright, I'll trust that you do. I'll see you Monday." The both of us said our goodbyes to Taeho, who said them quickly and left the cafe in a slight hurry. That just left Baekhyun, me and few other workers here. It was already hitting 6:50 pm, when we suddenly had a huge influx of customers come in. This was actually normal for a Thursday afternoon, the reason being that all types of business workers came here to eat and finish whatever they needed. I sighed, clearing off another table and was called by a customer to come take their order. I kept glancing at the clock which was something that Baekhyun noticed, "You need to get home or be somewhere I don't know about?" He teased, a smile on his face. Baekhyun is a red fox hybrid, his ears matched the color of his hair. He had short red hair, brown eyes, auburn colored ears with black tips and an auburn colored tail. Baekhyun stands at about 5'9'', just a bit taller than my brothers. He has cute round ears, along with cute cheeks, and a full top lip. I've always had a fondness for his looks, so I often would dote on him. When it comes to hybrids, they can't work unless they had an owner. My other best friend Suho is Baekhyun's owner. It's required by law that they have collars and a lot of other things to own a hybrid. I never really agreed to that law, I wished they would be treated as equal.

"I have a paper to finish and it's stressing me out because I swear I think mixed up all the history dates." I said, as I served a customer. He walked over after clearing another table down, "I can help you with the history dates if you want. I'm great at history." He smiled, "You would help me with it?" I quirked my eyebrows at him, "Of course I would. You are my best friend, Jae. I would help you with anything." He smiled, walking over to me as I stepped behind the counter. "Thank you so much!! You are a life saver!! I swear I thought that paper would be the death of me. The deadline is Saturday, so how about you come over and we'll work on that and have pizza?" I asked, placing the notepad down on the counter.

"Sounds like a plan!" The two of us high-fived one another, as I noticed that it was getting closer to 8:30. I nudged Baekhyun, showing him the time and he understood what I was getting at.

"Hey, so I wanted to ask you something." I looked over at Baekhyun, "What's up?" I wiped down a table, placing the dishes in a bin.

"Well, I wanted to know.. Have you ever thought about getting a hybrid?" He asked, rubbing the nape of his neck. "I have.. I mean it gets lonely in that house.. Especially with no parents and no siblings since they are out of the country." I said, sighing as I picked up the bin. "I think you should have one. I can already say that having an owner like Suho is the best thing I could ever ask for. I think you would make a great owner." He smiled, "Thank you, Hyunie." I smiled back, scratching behind his ears with my free hand. After finishing up at work, I ate dinner with Baekhyun and one of our other coworkers. Suho didn't mind Baekhyun coming home a little late as long as he was with me, it was a law that Hybrids who stayed out late were either with their owner or they were with someone the owner appointed as their trusted guardian or sitter. In that case, Suho had penned me down as another guardian of Baekhyun in case anything happened to him or Sehun. After a while, I headed home to work on my paper. I wanted to get as much done as I could and since Baekhyun would be helping me, I figured that I would make sure I did my best work. I decided to make a quick stop at the store, buying all of Baekhyun's favorite snacks so that he wouldn't have to worry about not having anything to eat while helping me. Once I got the snacks, I headed home and took a shower. From there, I got straight to work on homework and my paper.
