Eun-jae's pov

It was around one o'clock in the morning when I decided to finally stop typing. I had been working on my paper for hours, the tv being a sort of background noise for me. I didn't have to worry about class since I had none tomorrow. I wasn't on schedule to work either, so I had the whole day to myself which made me happy. When I looked at the television, I saw that there was a news report of something important to the area. I turned my full attention to the T.V, turning up the volume a bit to hear the reporter. This house is actually on the border of where the woods start, so I often made sure to lock my back doors. Han had told me that June was always the month where crazy things would happen, regarding hybrids or people just being stupid. I had realized that living alone with no weapons like a pocket knife or a bat was just plain stupid, so I kept a bat in my closet. Apparently, two hybrids had escaped a local lab and was somewhere nearby roaming the streets and forest in my area of the town. They had several helicopters out, canvassing the area around the lab and forest. Maybe, getting a hybrid wasn't such a bad idea, I mean things would be a lot more lively around here. I heard strange noise come from outside as I turned off the television, I looked over at the back door and my breath caught in my throat.

My nerves shot through the roof as I saw a dark figure rush past my back door, I rubbed my eyes thinking that whatever I had heard was nothing but a squirrel or small animal running away. I thought nothing of it, shaking my head. I turned the lights off and headed towards my room which is on the second floor. I slipped into bed, thinking nothing of the noises outside. It didn't take long for the tiredness to hit me and I immediately dozed off, hoping to get more sleep. A few hours into my sleep I heard glass shatter downstairs and a voice, before more glass was broken. I immediately stiffened, hearing the commotion downstairs. I snapped out of it, grabbing my bat which I had put next to the bed. I stood up, headed to the door, and headed carefully down the hallway. I could hear rummaging downstairs, making my blood run cold. I quietly headed towards the steps, keeping my steps light. Just as I reached the staircase, I felt a big breeze making me shiver since it has become considerably cold outside. They must have broken a window downstairs. I gripped the bat harshly, my knuckles turning white as I quietly went down the stairs. I tried to make as little noise as possible so that they didn't hear me, if they were hybrids then that wouldn't necessarily be good if they got aggressive. Thank god, Felix and Han decided to teach me self-defense. I stopped walking, hiding behind a wall that led to the kitchen.

"Whoa, this girl seriously has all the best food in here. I've never seen so much." I heard a smooth voice cut through the air, when I peeked around the corner, my eyes widened. It was a hybrid. Shit. Shit... Shit.. I'm so screwed. I slowly put the bat down, keeping myself hidden. I may know self defense but only against humans, not hybrids.

"Ah... I really hope that this girl doesn't call the police.." A second hybrid spoke up, my eyes studied his face as the first one stepped back from the fridge. The second one standing right beside him, leaning on the side of the pantry door.

The first hybrid has tan skin and a round-shaped head. He has an oval baby-shaped face, wide cheekbones, a narrow chin, and beautiful plumb lips. They looked extremely kissable, his eyes were quite big but they were so beautiful. His eyes were almond-shaped with monolids and it suits him really well. My eyes were trained on his side profile, he has a pronounced jawline and his features were much sharper. From his jawline to his chin, to the inner corner of his eye, and his beautiful cheekbones, it makes a perfect rhombus. He had cute furry ears, which were shaped that of a cat's. He also had a long tail, the same color as his ears with a white tip at the end. His nice straight, blonde hair seemed to almost blend in with his ears, I continued to stay quiet and tried to calm my nerves. He had on a long-sleeved striped black and white shirt, black pants, and old, torn-up blue vans. He stood to be about an inch shorter than my oldest brother, but he had an incredibly lean and very well-built body. Shit... He's really handsome.
