It's been four days since we came to Italy and my father still hasn't even revealed his illness to me. I could see how he struggled sometimes even to stand from the chair but all I got for an answer was that we had no time for that.

After spending all time till the afternoon with Emily I went to see my father, leaving Emily with Angela and Rosa. I didn't want her to spend time with them but I had no choice. Nonna didn't feel so good so I didn't have any other option.

"So, I see you're really into that girl" my father brought me back from my thoughts. "I think it's time for you to let her go, son. I am sure you had fun bit isn't it time for you to settle with someone decent?" the man asked looking at me.

"Father, if you even talk about her like a "not decent" I will leave the next minute not regretting and not saying goodbye" I gritted through my teeth.

He sighed loudly rubbing his hands and took a folder from the drawer giving it to me.

"This is all the legal documentation on all that I've built through these years. I am leaving everything in your hands and I expect you to keep it up" he said sternly totally changing his posture from a minute ago.

I took the folder looking through it carefully. I saw lots of new businesses, loads of accounts in different banks, and an enormous amount of property bought.

"And what do you want me to do with it? I told you I am not going to be the next Don after your death father" I looked up at him showing no remorse.

"You don't actually have a choice son. I while ago your sister was seen with Giovanni Rosso's son..." he trailed off leaving me in shock.

"I thought you killed his son. And it too in front of my eyes," I said with suspicion in my voice.

"He had two sons. He is a couple of years younger than you. His name is Massimo and all he wants is to destroy our family," he scribbled something on his phone and then continued. "He convinced your stupid little sister that he wants to work with us proposing her a share in his human trafficking business-"

"No father! No way we are doing this!" I interrupted him with a roar.

I knew what Rosso's were dealing with. Stealing young girls to sell them in auctions or to brothels around the globe and ones that were too feisty or not "worthy" – straight to Mexico where they disappeared from this planet without any notice.

"Son, calm down. I know you're against it. So am I. But your sister. She is too eager for power. She doesn't understand the sense of our values. She is hung up on money, not family." he sighed leaning his head. "She is willing to do anything for wealth. I bet I can die from her hands one day," he said smiling sadly.

"Then why not kill her? Everybody would benefit from that," I said coldly.

"Son. She is my blood. So as you. I consider killing only if there won't be any other option. Thankfully we have one. You have to step in." his eyes were full of hope.

I rubbed my face and looked at the documents again.

If I would sign this, I would definitely have to break every connection with Emily because there was no way I would put her through this hell.

But how could I do it? I was finally feeling like a whole person. I was finally breathing with full lungs.

I looked at the ceiling with frustration folding my hands on the table.

"Are you happy father?" I asked suddenly.

He was quiet for a moment but then answered.

"Yes, son. My family is safe and happy. And I made my family prosper and provided new generations with a bright future." he answered.
