Author's POV

The bright sun made Emily narrow her eyes when she tried to walk down the beach. The hot send was burning her bare feet but she confidently made her way to the shore.

The wind caressed her skin making her hair fly in different ways but she smiled seeing a man with a little girl near the water.

The girl was expertly digging a hole in the sand while a man was creating a beautiful castle. A castle for his little Princess.

Emily smiled and moved closer but the man noticed her and gave her a soft smile. Then he stood up kissing a little girl's head lovingly and started to walk away.

Worry consumed Emily and she started to run but the man was disappearing from her sight.

"Tony!" she screamed reaching for a little girl but it was too late. The man was gone.

"Mommy, why daddy left?" the girl asked circling her little hands around Emily's leg. "I want my daddy back!" she screamed loudly.

Cold sweat covered Emily's body when she woke up. She looked around the room and instinctively put a hand on her little bump. Realizing it was the same dream she's been having for over a month now, she leaned back on a pillow and sighed.

It's been 4 months since the ball. The news that Tony was dead spread like a wildfire but no one from the family was going to believe it. Officially it was a horrible accident caused by a gas leaking but the authorities knew the real reason. The investigation was held and all the remains of the bodies that were found were subjected to laboratory tests for identification. The whole process took too long.

All this time Emily lived with the hope that Tony escaped. That somehow he managed to make a run.

After that horrible night, she refused to believe the opposite. She cried herself to sleep every night and didn't eat. She depleted her body to the condition when Luca had to call the doctor and put her on IV support. But when her blood results came everything changed.

Emily was pregnant. There was no other option for her but to keep going for the sake of her child. She took the news badly, understanding that she couldn't share her happiness with the father of her child, and kept denying Tony's death.

But yesterday when the final results came, Luca entered her room with a piece of paper that hammered the last nail into her hope. The laboratory confirmed that they found Tony's teeth. As the explosion was so massive no body could be found or identified but thanks to analyses like that they had confirmation.

She cried herself to sleep last night thinking of how she should live now. The war was going between the families in Italy. Everyone wanted a bigger piece for himself. And now when she was carrying Tony's baby, this child was the heir. Dark thoughts were roaming through her head thinking of how she didn't want that kind of life for her baby.

"May I come in?" Salvatore pocked his head in her room.

"Yes, I'm up. Just thinking about stuff," she said moving from the bed.

"Sweetie I know today is not the time but there's a possibility of danger for you so I want you to listen to me." he sat on a chair inhaling sharply. "We created a plan with Tony. We signed all the documents and he passed me all the business our family held. He wanted to bail off and live a calm life with you."

"I knew your daddy wanted the best for us," Emily's lips started to tremble when she whispered the words. She rubbed her belly with a slight smile.

"But now, when you are pregnant we can't do it. It's more complicated and we need to think it through." Salvatore looked at the window rubbing his neck. "Rosa is still somewhere and we don't want to risk your health..." he trailed off but Emily understood what was he going to say.

"Let's relive this day and then we will think about how we will act after that," she said sternly standing up and going to the bathroom.

The car pulled to a stop and Emily gripped the roses in her hand tightly.

"Ready?" Luca asked from the front seat.

Emily closed her eyes remembering that soft smile and dark eyes.

"Yes," she finally said and exited the car.

The ceremony was held with an empty closed casket and a lot of fresh roses. There were just a few people attending and Emily was thankful for that not wanting any attention to her or Tony's grandmother.

When the ceremony ended and everybody disappeared she kneeled near the grave with her wet eyes.

"Emily, we should go," Luca put a hand on her shoulder.

"You go. I want to be alone please," she said quietly.

"But Emily-" Luca started but was quickly cut off.

"I'm in the cemetery Luca. Just go." her voice broke.

Luca lowered his head in defense and went to the car.

"I am so mad at you right now," Emily said clutching mud in her hands. "You told me you will always come back to me. You little liar. And now I have to put up with your kid alone," she released a bitter laugh. "But I want you to know that no matter who are we having I will always tell stories about their brave father." she closed her eyes trying to calm her broken heart.

"What a pity scene," a familiar voice came from her back.

Emily turned her head looking up and felt how her blood started to pump quicker from all the anger.

Rosa was standing right beside her dressed in all black with a hat on her head. She had a disgusted look on her face looking at broken Emily.

"You..." Emily gritted through her teeth trying to stand up but Rosa was fast enough to point a gun at her.

"Stay where you are. You will end up buried near my stupid brother so as his bastard," she spat evilly. "You people just keep ruining my plans," with that said she gripped her hand and was about to pull the trigger but a gunshot resonated in a silent cemetery, and in an instant, Rosa fell on the ground with a bullet in her scalp.

Shocked Emily was still sitting on a cold ground when Luca, Salvatore, and Haker ran to her covering her trembling body with their bodies and looking around.

"Who shot her?" Salvatore asked confusingly.

"Relax, it was just my sniper," I voice with a thick accent beamed moving closer to them.

Roman Volkov approached them and stretched his hand to Emily.

"Let me help you, sis," he said casually making everyone shoot him a glare.

"W-what did you just say?" Emily asked finally standing up from the ground.

"It's actually a long story," Roman embraced her in a hug. "Little Liza will finally go back home," he added and then released her from his bear hands.

"I don't understand..." Emily trailed off knowing all too well that her real name knew only Daniel and Tony.

"Let's go somewhere where we can talk," he gave her a smile and all of them walked to their cars. "I will lead the way to my mansion. We can have some tea and I will explain everything," he added on the way.

"The hell we will go after you! We don't believe anyone now," Luca protested.

Roman stopped in his tracks and turned to face Emily.

"Remember a little bear that you had with you? I gave you that for your first birthday. Mom left you at the shelter with it and I know for sure you were tagging it with you whenever you went." he said looking into Emily's eyes.

"But... How?" Emily couldn't wrap her mind around all that was happening.

"If you want any answers I suggest you tell your overprotective non-relatives to come with me," he said sarcastically and continued to walk.
