Dear Sir,
Last week, I visited Le Meilleur in order to celebrate my birthday. I have always idolised your restaurant and I've believed that it has an impeccable way of lifting anybody's mood. When my parents booked us for dinner at what I thought of as the best place in town, it was obvious that I was exited. The morning of my birthday dawned and what I believed to be a perfect day began to play out. My family woke me up to my favourite breakfast. They presented me with a rather expensive and unbelievably beautiful necklace which further proved my belief of this being my best birthday yet.
However, I still looked forward to dinner as the most important part of my celebration. I had always loved how beautiful Le Meilleur was and couldn't wait for my turn to finally be the lucky girl who was surrounded by friends and family, being sung to and most of all getting envious glares while your customary 10 tier birthday cake was brought out especially for me.
And as we arrived at your famed restaurant, it did not disappoint. At least in the beginning. The trees had fairy lights twirled around them giving the entire place a rather mystical look. Their wasn't a single leaf in the path leading to the restaurant, despite it being autumn. My sister, quite the clean freak, appreciated that. The doorman bid us a good evening and let us in, being both amicable and professional at the same time. And so, we entered the restaurant in the best of spirits.
However, our good mood was dashed when the front desk informed us that they'd had to give away our table. I hope you can understand the frustration we felt on the reservations we had made weeks earlier especially for this occasion being randomly handed out to someone else. Nevertheless, for the sake of my birthday sailing smoothly we accepted another table.
But from the second we took our seats at this table, it became quite apparent that the wait of an hour for our old table would have been much better. Our seats were right next to the kitchen causing the end seats to get bumped forward each time somebody entered or left through the door. It even got to a point where some left over pasta tipped onto my sister's clothes when some waiter tripped on her chair while opening the door.
If the horrible conditions had ended with the placing of the table, maybe we would have left the restaurant in an acceptable mood. But this was just the beginning of a long night of troubls and it was just getting started.
Our table was old and rickety with the top detached from the legs. This caused almost all the food placed there to slide onto the floor. Our garlic bread, hot cross buns, pepperoni pizza and even our coke bottle ended up on your perfectly tiled floor. We had to tightly hold onto our plates and glasses to avoid them sliding down to join the food, which made enjoying a meal rather difficult.
Then, onto the next episode of my quickly worsening birthday, my mother refused to order the special 10 tier birthday cake because it was quite clear that we couldn't stop it from ending up on the floor. Instead my mother ordered a few cupcakes which we hoped we could manage to actually eat.
Unfortunately, as the waiter was bringing out the cupcakes, he tripped over the rest of the fallen food and the cupcakes came flying my way.
And that was how my birthday ended, with icing all over my face and a cupcake in my hair.
My sister, in her pasta covered state, had a good laugh about that.
I decided to address this letter to you to express my disappointment in what I used to believe was the best restaurant in town. Due to the epic disaster my birthday was, I can truthfully say that I have first hand experience in all the faults of your restaurant. I hope my suggestions will be considered and no other person will ever face the same problem again.
First of all, please try to respect reservations and keep assigned seats. Secondly, dispose all broken tables and renovate old furniture. It would help avoid both hassle and wastage if the food didn't keep slipping off onto the floor. And lastly, do not keep any tables close to frequently opened doors as that could not end up well for anyone. I still do believe that "Le Meilleur" has a lot potential, I just hope that it can reach it one day.
Regards,
Molly.
