“Still living with the dryads, which causes issues when that idiot injures them.” Elra began. Rue snorted with laughter, apparently amused with the being getting called an idiot. “Yes.” Elra continued. “Things have been getting rough since last time you visited, that damn religious group has been testing their boundaries, which puts friction on this midground. So I summoned the beast and taught it manners, then this poor child found her way here.” Elra continued, patting Rue. “Please mind nyat A, I’m not nya child and B, don’t touch me.” Rue muttered, despite obviously enjoying it. “A cat-human, and it’s trusted?” the man in platemail asked. “Of course, in all honesty I pity the poor thing sometimes, named cat-humans have it really bad.” Elra stated darkly. “Anyways, Rachel, Ron and Dere, this one is Rue, and the one outside is a small golem I created, and I thank you for visiting, but as you already know, the lizardmen and ogres have friends trying to exterminate them at the moment, so this is not the best place to be.” Elra continued. “Elra, the reason we are here is to help, we have roots here same as you.” Rachel said, Ron and Dere nodded in agreement. “Very well, then we need to get you used to defensive positions immediately. Rue, will you?” Elra said. “Yes madam Elra.” Rue said, gently jumping down from the alcove. Suddenly the world outside lit as if the sun had just dropped on the forest. “They lit the forest on fire.” Elra said, and the party walked out, followed by Rue, who woke with a start. “What the hella was that, why nyow do nyese memories haunt me.” Rue said shedding tears. “It’s because you have deep rooted pain here, but you keep coming back.” A comforting yet gravelly voice said behind them. “I don’t want to forget her, she was nyas a mother.” Rue replied to the weathered golem, the only thing alive for miles. “I know, we must leave now, the same threat has arrived again.” The golem said. “No, I’ll stand my ground here, nyey will pay for what nyey did to nyis place.” Rue growled, allowing their anger to energize them.
