“She said she’d meet us here, so, where is she?” Krom muttered, fidgeting with his hammer. “Let’s go outside, perhaps she’s the owner of the light coming towards us.” Iris said, taking the cyclops by the hand and leading him outside. Then her scream shattered the night, causing the rest of the party to rush down the stairs and outside. Standing in front of them was a group of soldiers, some restraining Iris, others holding a sagging and bruised fox-woman and still others holding weapons towards the inn. “Heh, guess I failed you guys, huh?” Oathbreaker muttered, spitting out a glob of blood. “Despite the fact that you lot said you were going to be inducted into the church of golden blessings, several priests were found unconscious and a door leading to the center of the temple was picked open. Therefore, you are to be sentenced to death and your bodies’ displayed to make an example. Fortunately this one seems to be the cause of most of the issues” The talker said, shaking Oathbreaker by her hair. “But we are curious to see what you were doing there.” He continued. “The priests were conscious when we left, and she wasn’t there, she left after finishing arranging our induction.” Einkapf said, bowing to Oathbreaker as if graciously thanking her. “Then explain the lock picking tools found on her person.” The speaker countered. “Perhaps the man that gave her directions for us planted them.” Parly stated simply. “She asked a local for directions, please do elaborate.” The speaker said. “Middle aged, food stall owner by the look of him, exchanged words with our guide and then walked away angrily after being payed for thanks for helping us find the center.” Iris added, avoiding her captor’s hand to silence her. “Payed in platinum fox coins I suppose?” The speaker asked. Oathbreaker shook her head yes, and the soldiers looked around in embarrassment. “That bastard, leading us to attack a guide and pilgrims for him. We apologize for any issues we may have caused, and in the fox-woman wishes, we could provide medical care.” The speaker said as his men released their captives, Oathbreaker slumping down as she was released. “Nonsense, he even played me perfectly, and this is nothing a good nights rest wouldn’t fix.” Oathbreaker muttered, forcing herself upright. “We’ll take it from here sir, we’ll purchase her a room in the inn since that appears to be what she wishes.” Iris said. “Very well, have a good rest of your night, though I must say, traveling with creatures such as dragonkin can be dangerous for fledgling members of the church.” The speaker said as his group rode off back to the city.
