“This is a private suite, why didn’t you mention that when inviting us?” Iris asked, as she and Claremont began to become apparently cagey. “Because you two were acting way too suspicious, we wanted to make sure we’re all on the same page here.” Einkapf said, closing the door and locking it. “Nyere is nothing tying a look to another being as knowing something others do not.” Rue muttered from the lowest rafters. “Perhaps, perhaps, but please explain why the three of you act if you’re covering for one another.” Einkapf replied. “What gives you the preposterous idea that we might be covering for another?” Iris asked. “For one, you have never been good at hiding things, we don’t know Claremont all that well, and Rue’s always hiding something. So, tell me, what happened in that battle that you three don’t want the rest of us to know?” Parley answered, looking Iris dead in the eyes. “Fine, there was interference by a deity, but not as one might expect.” Iris said, caving. “What she means is nyat the deity not only interfered, but directly did so.” Rue added, glaring slightly at Iris. “But that would completely contradict the ruling of the main deities, that they could only directly interfere with the mortal world if they were in a mortal skin or another had already done so against the ruling.” Eikapf muttered, suddenly coming to a conclusion. “The Church of Golden Blessings is controlled by a deity in direct violation of the leading deities ruling, that’s the only way that a deity could directly intervene in an act of shielding, because it’d be relatively easy to tell a deity apart from a mortal with this many beings able to see or feel through the magic energy fields projected by deities.” Einkapf continued. “That would make sense, religious fanatics are nothing without their deity, making them susceptible to the influence of a less than righteous deity. Also, Rue, those globes that you thought no one saw you pick up, please do return them to their rightful owners by this time tomorrow.” Parly added, startling Rue from their perch in the rafters, earning the laughter of everyone else in the room.
